Itinerary
Whitney Plantation is an eye-opening and immersive experience. This plantation was founded in 1752 and it has become a valuable source of information about the lives of the people who lived, worked, and died here during times of slavery. This five-hour tour not only provides visitors an opportunity to discover more about this part of American history, but it also serves as an insight to those who were affected by slavery. When touring the Whitney Plantation, guests can view original slave cabins, exhibits featuring artifacts including clothing, tools, furniture, and even old sugar cane fields. There is also a chapel onsite that offers spiritual guidance for descendants of slaves still living in the area today. The Whitney Plantation offers visitors an unparalleled glimpse into our nation’s past while providing education and remembrance for those who have been impacted by the dark history of slavery in America.

Alligator spotted
Visiting the Whitney Plantation was one of the most memorable parts of our trip. The self-guided tour was powerful, informative, and thoughtfully done, with a strong focus on the real stories of the enslaved people who lived there. The memorials and exhibits really stayed with us, and we even spotted an alligator on the property, which felt like a true Louisiana experience. Definitely worth visiting if you want a meaningful look at history.
Great company, great tour!
Great experience all around. Our driver, Ricky, was exceptional. He drives for a living so the ride was incredibly smooth, he was friendly, funny, and had such a deep knowledge NOLA’s history, food and culture. Cannot praise him enough!
Ricky is wonderful!
Ricky, was fantastic! Timely, accommodating, and entertaining! 10/10.
Really fun and convenient transportation
Justina, our driver, was really awesome!
Cajun encounters UPCHARGE/RIP-OFF
Shanira was great absolutely nothing with her. My issue is all about the price and the incredible upcharge booking with Cajun encounters. If you have a car and you aren’t staying in a hotel book directly with the Plantation website you’ll save yourself about 115 dollars.
