Full description

Seeing the Vatican Gardens, the Vatican Museums, and St. Peter's Basilica in one day usually means juggling three separate bookings and a lot of walking between them. This private tour combines all three into one seamless morning. Start with a relaxed 45 minute bus tour through the beauty of the Vatican gardens, with audio guide narration. Next, you will meet your own private expert guide who will take you through the majesty of the Vatican Museums, followed by St. Peter´s Basilica. Built for guests who want the Vatican handled, not pieced together themselves.

The Vatican Gardens

Begin with a 45-minute drive through the Vatican Gardens by open-top bus. Enjoy the multilingual audio guide narrating the history as fountains, sculpted lawns, and hidden corners of Vatican City pass by. There are no stops on this portion of the tour, so just settle into your seat and let the beauty of the gardens unfold before your eyes.

The Vatican Museums

Your bus tour will lead you to the Vatican Museums, where your private guide takes over for a curated walk through the collection, including the Raphael Rooms and its centerpiece, The School of Athens. Rather than wandering room by room on your own, you go directly to what matters, with context for each piece as you reach it.

The Sistine Chapel

Before you step inside the Sistine Chapel, your host covers everything, the ceiling, the Last Judgment, the decades Michelangelo spent on both, since talking isn't permitted once you're through the door. What you get instead is silence and enough context to actually recognize what you're looking at, rather than a host's voice competing with your own thoughts.

St. Peter's Basilica

The tour continues into St. Peter's Basilica, the largest church in the world, ending at Michelangelo's Pietà and the basilica's main altar beneath Bernini's baldachin. It's the last stop of a morning that started on a bus and ends in front of one of the most recognized sculptures ever carved.

Lara was a wonderful local tour guide!! The whole trip was as seamless, fun, and we felt prepared with parking logistics. Highly recommend the morning tour, as there was very little traffic and we had fewer tourists to navigate around. Also be prepared to be soaked on the boat tour! The priority tickets get you to the front of the boat and the waterfall spray hits you directly in the face. So fun!!
