Family fun in Castlewellan Forest Park
We were staying in the area for a few days over Easter and happened to get chatting with one of the owners of the Life Adventure Centre — no sales pitch at all, just a genuine guy who is passionate about what he does. After our conversation, we decided to hire some bikes for the morning to explore Castlewellan Forest Park. The bikes were great, the whole process was easy, and it was such a fantastic way to experience the park and enjoy the outdoors. It ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. We’ll definitely be back for more adventures and had already decided before leaving that next time we’ll be trying SUP and kayaking as well. Highly recommended for anyone looking for fun outdoor activities in the area!
Brilliant bikes, Super service, Great value
Bikes only booked the day before our trip from the Isle of Man and we couldn’t have had better service. The bikes were delivered and collected on time at the harbour with plenty of information on route planning and making sure the bikes were individually set up for us with helmets, puncture kits and panniers if needed. Having the bikes for the day was a brilliant way to explore and can’t wait to return to the beautiful Strangford Loch and plan to cycle around the entire Loch for starters, so I’ll be calling on you for another bike to hire.
Great experience
I would strongly recommend Life adventures. They were so nice and helpful. They gave good advice and had time for our questions. The quality of the bikes was also excellent and really good value for your money. We did the red route and other trails exploring, it was our first time on e-bikes and recommend the experience, so much easier and interesting 😃
Electric experience on two wheels
Having never ridden an electric bike before, the concept was a little bit daunting. I was very lucky to be shown exactly how the bike operated and quickly was able to move speed confidently. The electric bike allowed you to climb anywhere and they always seem to be enough power to lift you up any slope. The scenery around the country Park was stunning as up high you could see a view that stretched over Newcastle and across the Irish Sea. The Mourne mountains are a perfect backdrop for a most memorable bike ride. I’m now looking to buy my own electric bike as I was so impressed at how easy they were to operate and fun to use.
The best trip eveer!!
We recently went on a trip to Newcastle to visit family. We connected with Life/Bike Mourne and decided to rent eBikes for three days instead of renting a car. That was the best decision we made the entire trip. First off, Victoria was a pleasure to deal with. I had a lot of questions, and she responded immediately via email. She asked where we were interested in riding and provided links to maps for us. When we picked up the bikes in Newcastle, Jon was very helpful. Everything we needed awaited us, including our requested printed maps, saddlebags, locks, helmets, and hi-vis vests. The instructions he gave us were very helpful. He took us to the promenade so we could get familiar with the bike. After that, we were off!! Day one: we went to Tollymore Forest Park for trail riding and fly fishing. I got a flat on the way out. They provided all the tools, spare tubes, and training so we could repair it. Twenty minutes later, we were on our way again. (It's all part of the adventure) I called Jon and told him I needed another spare tube, and we met and re-stocked. Next, we went to Castlewellan Park for more trail riding and lunch with a makeshift charcuterie board. Day two: We decided to ride around and visit the family. We also did a lot of shopping in Newcastle. The saddle bags on the bike were perfect—they had a lot of great storage space. Day three: The Mountains of Mourne. All I can say is thank God for those eBikes. What a difference they made riding the trains in the mountains. Beautiful scenery, to say the least. I met with Victoria on our last day about turning the bikes in (I really didn't want to because we were having so much fun), and it was painless. She was very accommodating. In closing, this was one of the best experiences we have had while vacationing. It was easy to reserve, and there was excellent communication, perfect instructions, maps, and all with a smile!! We loved the freedom that the eBikes gave us to easily navigate the streets in town—so much so that we will be buying eBikes when we get home. There is no doubt that when we return next year, we will rent these from Bike Mourne again. A must-do if you’re visiting Newcastle!! Thanks, Victoria and Jon, for the exceptional service!!
