Situated not far from Sanahin Haghpat monastery has its significant place in the historical and cultural life of Armenia. It was built during the reign of king Ashot Bagratuni. Numerous valuable manuscripts and miniature paintings have been produced in the scriptorium of Haghpat for many centuries. In the 18th century the famous Armenian bard Sayat-Nova used to live and create in this monastery. The belfry with its unique architectural composition is of stunning interest.

The monastery of Sanahin is on the right bank of Debed River. This architectural complex consists of several churches, seminary, book depository. The building of the seminary, which connects St. Astvatsastin (Holy Mother of God) and Allsaviour churches was from the outset built to make the edifices more earthquake resistant.

The village of Odzun is one of the biggest villages of Lori region. The domed basilica is situated in the middle of the village and is seen almost from every side. Perfect

Efficient tour of the Ozun, Sanahin and Hagpat monasteries located on the cliffs of the Debed Valley. The solemn atmosphere of each church/monastery will wash your mind, and you can keep an eye on the beautiful decoration. Also, the scenery of the train windows along the way was much more beautiful, and I was able to take photos whenever I wanted, so it was really good to have a private tour. I was able to pay an extra fee to stop by the Akhtala monastery, which was another great memory. We go through pretty steep mountain roads, but thanks to the excellent driving of our driver, Hrach, we were comfortable along the way. The venue is located in Sanahin district, close to Sanahin Monastery. I think this tour is a great way to enjoy your trip safely and comfortably.

Beautiful 3 days around Armenia with Levon

We already miss traveling across Armenia with driver Levon! Our group of 6 had an absolutely unforgettable 3-day journey, filled with breathtaking landscapes. We explored iconic places like Garni, Geghard, the Azat Reservoir, Khor Virap, Dilijan, Lake Sevan, as well as Odzun, Haghpat, Sanahin, Gyumri, Vanadzor, Akhurian, and several more hidden gems along the way. We had a very comfortable van, which made long drives relaxing and enjoyable. What we especially appreciated was the flexibility: we were able to design our own itinerary, from the route to restaurant stops, and Levon supported everything with patience, stories, and great suggestions. His kindness, professionalism, and genuine care stood out from the very beginning. Most importantly, he is an extremely responsible and safe driver, which made us feel comfortable at all times. Also, his engaging stories and deep knowledge with which he responded to our hundreds of questions, made Armenia come to life even more! We have already done dozens of tours with Hyur Service over the years, and it always lives up to our expectations - and exceeds them. Thanks again for such a wonderful journey!

Great experience

We booked 2 private tours. One south west other to north and via Gyumri back to Yerevan. In total 3 days. Well organized, on time departures direct from our hotel in Yerevan. The Mercedes Vito was comfortable for our party of 6. Levon, our driver was helpful and easy going. On request he arranged for traditional Armenian music. Really nice was the information he provided about real life and history of his family, and the Armenian people. He speaks Armenian, Russian and quite some German. On top of that he has good sense of humor. Highly recommend booking with Hyur Service.

still a wonderful journey

This was my fourth private tour with Hyur, and once again, it was an incredible experience. My guide was the amazing Nina, and our driver Archer, whose driving skills are truly impressive. This trip was quite a long one—almost reaching Tbilisi—and compared to the southern route (the Tatev tour), I found the northern roads even more challenging. On the way back, it even started raining, which made visibility poor, and yet the whole ride still felt comfortable and safe. There were well-timed stops along the way where I could rest and recharge before continuing. Nina was, as always, exceptional. She patiently explained every detail about the cultural and historical background of the places we passed, and shared fascinating insights about Armenia’s breathtaking mountains. Thanks to her, I got to know not only Mount Ararat but also many other beautiful and meaningful peaks that are just as precious to Armenia. Nina is incredibly professional and knowledgeable. I learned so many things I could never have found on my own—about Armenian poets, musicians, traditional music, opera, and the deeper meanings behind local place names. Every private tour with Hyur makes me feel my understanding of Armenia growing deeper and more personal. No matter how much research I do before each trip, I always realize during the journey how much more there is to learn. Exploring Armenia this way is a truly special experience—something that can only be felt firsthand. I’m also very grateful to Archer, whose calm and skillful driving made the long and winding roads (especially in the rain!) feel safe and smooth. The driver’s role in a private tour is just as important as the guide’s, and I deeply appreciate his part in making the trip so enjoyable. Hyur continues to impress me with such high-quality service. Every tour leaves me happy, fulfilled, and loving Armenia even more each time. Many thanks again to Nina and Archer for such a wonderful and memorable journey!
