Itinerary
Admire the imposing walled city of Tulum. Stand in front of the "castle" and feel the centennial history in the ruins of a city considered holy to the ancient Mayan culture. Tulum is a magnificent archaeological zone that is located next to the sea, and that has one of the best beaches of the Mexican Caribbean. Tulum and Yul Ku lagoon snorkeling
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! We were blown away at the service and degree of expertise on this trip. As it happens, as a couple, we were the only ones in our van with our driver Victor and our guide Alvaro Sr. On route we reviewed Mayan math, having done Chitzen Itza earlier in the week. Upon arrival to Tulum the parking lot was packed, but Victor got us up front and Alvaro arranged to get us umbrellas to beat the sun. Alvaro made several suggestions, letting us decide how best to navigate the day. His expertise payed off as we got transport to the main site, and out again, having him literally take us to the front of the line as it was just the three of us to fit in to the golf carts. We next navigated to the Yul Ku lagoon, and were frankly happily surprised that Alvaro took us first hand into the lagoon and snorkelled with us. He was VERY active pointing out the many amazing and colorful sea life there. We had not anticipated this degree of service and wished the team Muchas Gracias!! at the end of this wonderful and highly rated excursion.
Not as described
I bought this trip because it was supposed to go to the beach after the ruins and that didn't happen. We went straight back to the hotel after the ruins. I felt like I was robbed, because I only got half of the excursion that I paid for.
Very disappointing
I was very disappointed in our Tulum visit. I was there 25+ years ago and it was beautiful - you could go on the beach and get the view in the photo you see in the advertisements but now you can't go on the beach and the whole place was not kept up well at all - saw garbage in many places. Not only was it a long drive to get there but it was extremely hot (in July) with a ton of people there.
Great excursion!
Tulum Express is a great option if you’re looking to get away from the beach and learn about some of the area’s history without the time commitment that Chichen Itza requires. Price includes a 90 minute private van ride each way (with free water bottles), a brief stop with a shaman to be blessed, entrance into the historical site, and a guided tour with time to explore on your own. Martin was FANTASTIC, knowledgeable and funny, even though he’s a Packers fan :) Highly recommend to anyone looking for a shorter excursion!
Tulum Express Amazing
Our tour guid, Antonio was soo knowledgeable and the scenery was so amazing. I loved the welcome blessings from the Sharman and I also got my birth calendar in Mayan interpretation. I definitely recommend this tour.
