Pass by: The Trevi Fountain is the most famous Roman fountain and it's the terminal part of the Aqueduct of the Virgin. This monument dates back to the 18th century and was designed by architect Nicola Salvi. The stunning facade presents a structure similar to that of a triumphal arch and features plenty of intricate symbols.

The "Aqua Virgo" (Aqueduct of the Virgin) is the only ancient aqueduct still in use in Rome. The name refers to a young girl who helped a group of soldiers find some water, but it can also be considered a reference to the purity and quality of the water itself.

Dont bother with aquaducts
Trevi fountain is stunning, what a site! The aquaducts however were not particulalry exciting, nor are they undef the fountain, on a random side street. Our guide was boring and everything she said was 'her opinion' not fact. Unless you want to be right beside the fountain dont bother paying you can see just as well by standing outside the barrier, which is free and gets a good view too
