Full description

Go beyond the pasta on this food tour through the Eternal City's most delicious neighborhoods: the Jewish Quarter, historic center, and Trastevere. While it's easy to fall into tourist traps in this part of Rome, you'll be in the company of a local guide who knows exactly what real Romans eat and where to eat it. You'll try iconic Roman bites at family-run businesses, enjoy a guided local craft beer tasting, and make your own Spritz on a private rooftop in Trastevere. Along the way, you’ll learn the unwritten rules of dining out in Rome so you can make the most of every meal throughout the rest of your stay.

Discover the family-run gems hidden in plain sight as you taste your way through the heart of Rome.

Rome's culinary traditions date back centuries with an emphasis on fresh, local produce prepared in simple ways. This food tour immerses you in the flavors of the Eternal City that proudly honor that tradition at seven small businesses in the Jewish Quarter, Centro Storico, and Trastevere.

Our afternoon starts in Rome's quintessential foodie neighborhood: the old Jewish Quarter. Pop into some of the beloved family-run establishments lining its charming streets to taste traditional Roman street food bites, like the famous fried artichokes and a unique kosher treat from a 200-year-old bakery. You'll also learn how the Jewish community of Rome has influenced the city's wider culinary culture.

From there, we'll head into the Centro Storico. After a stop at a fascinating set of ruins with ties to Julius Caesar, we'll get back to the food. We'll pick up freshly fried codfish from a no-frills spot that does it best washed down with a glass of wine.

After that, we'll make our way through the narrow Roman streets to a local craft beer shop. You'll meet the friendly owner and sample two local craft beers paired with cold cuts and cheese from the Lazio region at this premier bar.

Still craving more? You'll venture across the river to the charming Trastevere neighborhood for our final savory stop of the evening, where you'll indulge in portable and flavorful street food, the trapizzino.

As the sun begins its descent, follow your guide to a secluded rooftop for the grand finale: making your own Spritz. Revel in the panoramic views of Rome's skyline and St. Peter's Basilica as you toast to the night with your homemade aperitivo.

You'll end your food tour full and happy—that's our goal! But you'll also have an in-depth understanding of both the ingredients and the people that make Italian food world-renowned.
