Itinerary
Meet by the Tiber river and get ready to chart a fascinating course through the centuries as you walk the picturesque streets of Trastevere and visit hidden sights unlikely to be noticed on your own.
Discover the medieval Basilica of Saint Crisogono and be surprised by the captivating beauty behind its outside ordinary appearance. Marvel at the apse made by Bernini and the geometric Cosmatesque pavements. Go below the surface and find yourself in 4th-century Rome. Perceive the mystical atmosphere of the ancient underground basilica and walk along its walls, original frescoes, and the old crypt.
Then head towards the Church of Santa Cecilia and go under the earth into its impressive undergrounds. Walk on the original mosaic-flooring of the 3rd-century Roman House of the martyr and be amazed by the preserved look of the subterranean earlier basilica. Be fascinated by the legend of St. Cecilia’s life and her macabre death, and see the beautiful Roman mosaics all around her tomb. Visit the Cavallini room and marvel at his Last Judgement masterpiece (only with the morning option of the tour).
Stroll around the cobbled streets of Trastevere with your guide and immerse into its distinctive and lively spirit.
End your tour at the heart of the neighbourhood in front of the stunning golden mosaics of Santa Maria in Trastevere, one of the oldest churches of Rome. From here, immerse on your own into the authentic life of the district, its wineries, and traditional food tavernas, which Trastevere is famous for.

Traveler reviews
A great way to learn about Trastevere!!
We were fortunate to have a private tour. The knowledge of our tour guide was so impressive. We enjoyed learning the history of this area from someone who transported us back in time. She knew so much about all the churches, the artwork, the sculptures, and the history. There is so much to learn, and our guide took her time explaining the details of what we were looking at.
Trastevere
Our guide was a thoughtful, engaging story teller and teacher. We were lucky to have her as our guide

Fantastic tour of Trastevere's Hidden Gems with Anestis
My mom and I throughly enjoyed our two-hour walking tour of Trastevere's Hidden Gems! Although we had booked this as a small-group tour, we ended up with a private tour, so it was an amazing value and completely personalized experience. Our guide, Anestis, was waiting for us at the designated meeting point near the Tiber River, and although we were expecting only a tour of three beautiful and historical churches, he included so much more. He was extremely knowedgeable and taught us a lot about ancient and medieval Roman history even though this was our fourth time to Rome and we'd taken lots of walking tours before. We also got to discover incredibly beautiful streets, lanes, and piazzas in both the more crowded and less crowded sides of Trastevere. Santa Maria in Trastevere, San Crisogono, and Santa Cecilia (with its fascinating underground) were all stunning and captivating in their own different ways, and Anestis was a kind, erudite, and delightful companion. We highly recommend Touriks as a company and Anestis as a guide. Grazie mille!
It was amazing, our guide...
