GREAT
We made 4 excusions during our stay it was great. The visits are of quality and transfers in a comfortable vehicle and suitable for babies. The driver Mohamed a was adorable throughout our stay and especially very punctual. We had a great time.
Following the trail through the park.
Toubkal National Park was established in 1942 as the first one in Morocco. We visited it because our main goal was to climb Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak of the High Atlas and North Africa. We didn't do it with Ando, but with a hired guide. Our trek led from Tizgui to Refuge Toubkal almost all the time within the park. There is a park board in front of the entrance to the park. Next to it is the gendarmerie building where you need to register. The route leading through the park gives you the opportunity to view the Atlas Mountains from different perspectives. The vegetation is rather poor and we did not see any fauna, apart from small insects and a few birds. On the way, it is worth stopping in the Berber village of Chamharouch. Known for its small cascade, terraced fields and, above all, the Sidi Chamharouch sanctuary. There is an Islamic Marabou temple and an impressive large boulder painted white here. This is a popular pilgrimage site known for the healing power of the local water. Here you can also relax with a drink in a local cafe. On the way to the shelter, there is another opportunity to stop for food and drinks. On the way back, after climbing Jebel Toubkal, we followed the same trail, so my experience with Toubkal National Park is not very great.
Atlas Mountains Experience
Great experience. Hike was good (you needed to be relatively fit I would say) and lunch location changed due to weather so we didn’t ride donkeys
Great trip to the mountains
Very enjoyable trip to the Atlas Mountains. Incredible views and lovely people. Our guide Mohammed was great. He comes from the area so knew everyone. Highly recommended. Only regret is we didn’t have longer.
