Give your child an unforgettable surfing experience with Torquay Kids’ Surf Lessons, heart of Victoria’s iconic Surf Coast. Designed for ages 6-12, this class introduces young surfers to surfing fundamentals in a safe, supportive, exciting environment. Led by friendly, qualified instructors, the lesson begins with a safety briefing and on-beach instruction covering ocean awareness, board handling, and basic techniques like paddling and standing up. Once confident, the group hits shallow whitewater—perfect for first-timers. Classes held at Torquay Front Beach or nearby Surf Beach, depending on conditions, both known for gentle surf & beginner-friendly waves. All equipment (soft-top boards, wetsuits) provided for maximum comfort & safety. Small group sizes, personalized attention, and focus on building confidence make this a fantastic introduction to the Aussie surf lifestyle.

Know before you go

Children must be aged 6 to 12 and comfortable in the water.
Arrive 15–20 minutes before the lesson start time for check-in and gear fitting.
Bring: Swimwear to wear under the wetsuit Towel Water bottle Sunscreen (provided by some providers, but best to bring your own)
Parents/guardians must stay at or near the beach for the duration of the lesson.
The lesson may be held at Torquay Front Beach or Torquay Surf Beach depending on weather and wave conditions—check with the provider.
Lessons run in most weather conditions; however, they may be postponed in extreme weather or unsafe surf conditions.
