The SS Thistlegorm was a British merchant navy ship that was sunk by German bombers in 1941 during World War II while carrying military supplies to North Africa. The wreck was discovered by Jacques Cousteau in the 1950s.

Full description

 Early Morning Departure – The trip usually starts before sunrise to reach the site in time for the first dive. Expect a 3 hour boat ride from Sharm El Sheikh.

2️⃣ Two Dives on the Wreck – Typically, the first dive is an external exploration, while the second dive includes wreck penetration into the cargo holds, where you’ll see WWII trucks, motorcycles, and weapons, based on currents conditions.

3️⃣ Moderate to Strong Currents – The wreck is in open water, so currents can be challenging. Divers should have good buoyancy and experience in deep/wreck diving.

4️⃣ Depth of 16-30m – The main deck sits around 18m, while the deeper parts, including the propeller, reach 30m. Nitrox is highly recommended for extended bottom time.

5️⃣ Stunning Marine Life – Expect to see batfish, barracudas, moray eels, snappers and more near the wreck.

6️⃣ Historic Atmosphere – The wreck is incredibly well-preserved, offering a mysterious and fascinating look at WWII artifacts frozen in time.

A guia Mariana foi muito simpática e instrutiva. O tour passa pelos principais pontos relevantes do centro de San José. A comida servida no final do tour é o ponto alto. Poderiam cobrar um pouco menos para termos um melhor custo benefício aqui. Mesmo assim vale a pena, pois andar por conta própria no centro de San José pode ser perigoso.
