Your evening starts in the Gothic Quarter, inside what looks like an ordinary neighborhood bookshop. Hidden among the shelves is a tiny wine bar that's been serving locals for decades. Settle in for a glass of cava, cured mountain sausage, and smoked-sardine brioche, your first sign that this part of Barcelona hides more than it shows.

From there, you'll walk to an 80-year-old bodega that started life as a grocery store before becoming one of the neighborhood's favorite wine cellars, the kind of place where, by some accounts, Salvador Dalí once sat for hours. Taste patatas bravas and Manchego cheese with a glass of vermouth as you learn about la hora del vermut, the pre-meal ritual that's stayed part of daily life in Catalonia for generations.

Next, a tapas bar that hasn't changed its short menu since 1945. Try Catalan sausage and crisp fried fish with wine poured straight from the barrel. You'll watch as your guide demonstrates the porrón, a long-spouted pitcher built for drinking without touching your lips to the rim.
