Itinerary
The Little Amazon is a small stretch of mangrove forest located in the town of Takua Pa in Thailand’s Phang Nga Province. The notable feature of Sang Ne Canal is the massive banyan trees whose intricate root systems create archways over the small waterway. The Little Amazon is a haven for wildlife, and visitors commonly see macaque monkeys, reticulated pythons and other snakes, oriental pied hornbills, monitor lizards, kingfishers, and more.
Visit Sai Roong Waterfall, freshen up before heading to Khao Lak.

Traveler reviews
Wonderful experience seeing monkeys in the wild
Fantastic experience. We were lucky seeing sooooo many monkeys. Watching them scoop up and munch on crabs. Loads of baby monkeys. Also watched many birds.
Fantastic little experience for an afternoon in Takua Pa near Khao Lak
Great fun, great views and the travel was in a comfortable air conditioned minivan. Mu was a great tour guide, very kind and explained the sights in surprisingly good English!
Not value for money
The canoe trip lasted an hour so not a half day trip. The visit to the waterfall was a complete waste of time as there was no water flowing!
Overpriced tour
The driver didn't even know the route when he was picked up. We were taken to a dock and then paddled for an hour by canoe through mangroves. An understanding with the guides was hardly possible as they did not speak English. Afterwards, we were taken to a waterfall where we were supposed to swim. That was a little trickle with max. 10m high. There was no bathing possibility. To offer this as a highlight is a boldness. Incidentally, admission was also charged at this waterfall. All in all, far too expensive for a nice little canoe trip...
Huge Disappointment
We paid appx. £115 for the trip and it was a huge disappointment. Having boarded the canoe we entered the narrow waterway set between banyan trees and other foliage. We were quickly passed by a loud, motorised craft and, in the 40 minute course of the outbound trip, this happened, at intervals, three or four more times. Needless to say, we saw no wildlife at all throughout the trip. This seems like a lot of money to photograph a few banyan roots while being rocked about by motorised craft and frequently meeting returning canoes!!
