Popular for its coral gardens and white beaches, Surin Islands are one of the most famous diving and marine life viewing sites in the world, no doubt the best in Thailand. The islands are within Mu Ko Surin National Park. Surin Islands are an archipelago of five islands within Mu Ko Surin National Park, in Phang Nga Province. The islands are 55 km off the coast, 100 km north from Similan Islands in the Andaman Sea and just 18 km from the oceanic border of Burma. The national park is covering an area of 135 km² of which 76% is sea. The main islands are Ko Surin Nuea and Ko Surin Tai which are only 200 meters apart, the corridor between both islands is shallow and a popular place for snorkelling. The other three small islands are Ko Ri, Ko Khai and Ko Klang. The islands are one of the very few untouched places in Thailand. Other than a small Moken village and park premises, there are no other buildings on the islands.

surin island, snorkeling behind expectation

i have snorkelled in many regions , and also in south east asia . was a first time now in Surin for a day trip. The visibility was not excellent , and the corals are not in good shape. The amount of fish was little and not many different species found. Besides the standard fishes, noting special spotted . I took only 4 pictures at a total of 4 snorkel spots !!! Maybe , we had a poor timing , and other people are more lucky , but I will not return to Surin Island to snorkel .

Surin island trip by seastar speed boat

We have booked seastar speed boad service for full day trip to Surin island with snorkeling. Seastar service is very good. From hotel pickup to checkin at speed boat, beakfast ,lunch and entire journey was excellent. I give 5 stars to seastar speed boat service. During snorkeling, guide service is excellent without any tip expectations. We have provided vegetarian food at lunch break. All location for snorkeling is above expectations. Very crystal clear water with colorful fishes and coral reefs. I suggest only seastar speed boat service.
