Itinerary
At Kampong Phluk we hop in a boat and explore, taking in the beautiful waterways and charming houses on stilts. In dry season you'll be able to see the watermarks on the beams showing how high the waters rise, and in wet season you'll see the villagers and fishermen going about their business by boat.
Going out on the Tonle Sap itself is a deeply calming experience thanks to the still waters meeting the horizon as far as you can see. We round off the day with a drink (and dinner, if you wish) at a traditional floating restaurant to watch the sun set over the lake.

Fantastic tour with Tom
I loved this tour with Tom so much! He is a local from the village himself and he was so passionate. Even though we went in the dry season this meant we could walk around the village and spend a bit more time seeing the local houses. I imagine the tour in the wet season is different being able to ride directly around the village so maybe I will have to come back to do it again! We still had a boat trip out to the floating restaurant for sunset too which was nice. My favourite part was being able to stop by the English school that offers free lessons to the children from the village. We got to speak with the children for a bit to help them practise their English which was fun! All in all, a great experience and definitely worth doing in Siem Reap.
Really worth doing!!
We had a great tour of the village with our guide Tom, who is from the village himself. It was amazing to see how people live when the water level changes 8m every 6 months! Tom was very knowledgeable and clearly very passionate about sharing the way of life of the villagers with us. We learnt a lot and even spoke to some of the kids in the local school!
Unforgettable experience in Siem Reap
This was one of the best experiences I have had in Cambodia. True, real, visceral, heartwarming, and beautiful. I did the sunset tour. The tour guide Tom is a true gentleman, speaks amazing English, and has a lot of incredible stories to tell about the village and the tour. He is the perfect guide because he is from the village himself. He made sure we were transported in a comfortable and timely way, and kept us hydrated throughout. Walking through the village, meeting locals and seeing how they live, it is an experience I will never forget. Ending the tour in the floating restaurant for the sunset was icing on the already rich and fulfilling cake. I highly recommend doing this tour, and doing it with Tom and this company.
