Ups & Downs
The Desert Safari had its ups and downs. The dune drive was exciting, with stunning desert views, but unfortunately, our driver seemed annoyed the whole time, which took some of the fun out of it. The first stop was for ATV rides, but if you didn’t want to pay the extra money for that, you were left standing around for about 30-45 minutes, which really took away from the experience. Once we reached the main site, we got a short camel ride (about 5 minutes), which was nice but too brief mostly just for a photo op. On the bright side, the sunset over the desert was incredible, one of the best parts of the trip. The barbecue dinner was amazing—delicious food cooked over open fires, with an authentic vibe. The live orchestra and traditional dancer were a nice touch.
Solid 0/5 rating
The only thing that is good about this safari is the Fireworks show at the camp. Our Driver was a guy called Maqsood. He was the most unwelcoming person i have ever met with during all the times i have been here. First and foremost, He was always using his mobile phone while driving to and from the dunes, we had 2 near misses but all he cared about was watching Horse Racing on his phone while driving on the freeway. Secondly, don’t get conned that this is all about “Adrenaline”, “thrill” or whatever, I swear you can have more of an adrenaline rush while driving on a pothole on the motorway. As an off-roading enthusiast fanatic, if i could rate the driver’s dune driving skill on a scale of 1 to 10, i would give him a solid zero. Thirdly, the driver acted like our presence was disturbing him and like he did not want to talk to us. Fourthly, there was Sand Boarding included in the package, thing that we did not get to do because we were not offered to do so. Even tho it was included in the package as i said before. Fifth, we were asked by some guys at the camp to pay 50 AED (optional) so that we can be seated in the VIP Buffet. Once there, the guy that was distributing the shish kebab was reluctant on serving me more than 2 pieces of grilled drumsticks. Although i am thankful that he did that as the chicken drum was barely 3 inches and was drier than the dunes and was burnt. I really regret going to this safari. I seriously do not recommend.
Evening Desert Safari with dinner
Tour was fabulous! Covered all bases. We got to go dune bashing (amazing fun!), quad biking, camel riding (if you wanted to!), buffet bbq dinner with a fab show and then dune bashing afterwards in the dark! The sunset was magical and Ali was an incredible host to us! Thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon and evening!
