Superficial Rushed Visits: Not Worth It

The amount of time allowed to visit each site is absurd, if not even insulting. We spent more time listening to the guide’s stories than visiting what we paid the tour for: 30 minutes standing outside Westminster Castle listening to the guide to be let in as second group in the day. He recommended visiting first the chapel or else it would get crowded and there would be no time. We started there. Had to wait on the line 20 minutes for them to open the chapel, wasting precious time already. After a rushed walk through the amazing chapel, the lines to visit other interiors were so long that we couldn’t see anything else cause we had to rush back to the bus. Stonehenge was the worst. We were given 50 minutes only. Walking from the tour bus to the entrance and waiting for the bus that takes visitors to the rocks took almost 15 minutes. Getting back would take another 10. So we had only 25 to look at such an amazing and unique site (that deserves much more to fully appreciate and enjoy) and take photos, then rush back. Forget about the 360 degree movie, the replica of the ancient village or shopping for a souvenir. On my way back from the rocks I had to wait for 3 buses to finally get in because of the crowds. I had to run to the tour bus and got there 6 minutes late (clock in hand) and the guide was already mad at me. Very stressful and unpleasant moment —he goes there every day and doesn’t realize many of his customers are there once in a lifetime. The same with the Roman Baths. Less than an hour on a wonderful historical site is not enough to see in detail all the excavations and archeological pieces. The tour was scheduled to end at 8:30 PM yet it finished much earlier, instead of having given us more time to enjoy at least one of the sites. Should have been much better going to each site on our own. Don’t recommend at all.

Wonderful tour

James and Carlos were wonderful as guides! Loved the tour, would recommend folks to maybe break up Windsor castle to a half day trip and do only Stonehenge and Bath in a day to have more time. The tour guide James were amazing!
