Traveler reviews
We are now wine connoisseurs!
Our day touring with Stel was fantastic! The variety of wineries we went to were perfect. We walked away with so much more knowledge on not only the beautiful area, but wine making and appreciation. Highly recommend!
A great day out with Stel!
We had another great wine tour with Stel. Our first tour with him was in January of 2020 just before Covid. We loved the tour. He even texted us during the pandemic to check in on us. Once we decided to return to Australia this year we knew we had to do another wine day with him. He is so knowledgeable about Tasmania and its wines. The wineries were fantastic as was lunch. You won’t go wrong doing a small group wine tour with Stel.
Great times!
Great day out, Stel was a 12/10 host, knowledgeable and flexible with the days plans. Highly recommended and will use Stel again.
The highlight of our trip
Stel took myself and 4 friends on a private wine tour last week and I have nothing but amazing things to say about the whole experience. We are from Adelaide and have never been to Tasmania before, so we had no idea where to start when looking for wineries. I told Stel what we were looking to get out of the day, and he curated the whole experience for us, booking in 4 wineries and lunch at Willie Smith's. Stel's knowledge of wines and the Huon Valley region was extraordinary and we all came away from the tour having learnt a lot; you can tell he is really passionate about his job, and he made all of us feel comfortable to ask questions and engage with what he was saying. Stel is top-notch bloke and really left an impression on us with his humour and progressive thinking. The day was full of laughs (which was the number one thing we were looking for during a wine tour), and so many great conversations. I'm really glad we got to spend the day with him. The experience was well-worth what we paid, and I will definitely be booking again the next time I am in Tasmania. Cheers for everything Stel - this was definitely the highlight of our trip.
Coal River Valley winery tour
It’s not cool when the tour guide goes out of his way to rudely interrupt a guest (deep in conversation with another guest) to educate them on the etiquette of holding a wine glass. Maybe a better approach is to lightheartedly address the group to discuss stem holding rather than glass holding. Also do not discuss politics with him, if he doesn’t agree with your view he will shut you down and call you ignorant. It certainly put the brakes on what would have been a memorable day. He did apologize but two guests left the tour. On the upside the wineries were absolutely fantastic, we really enjoyed some superb wines. Lunch was great too.
