Traveler reviews
Soho food tour
Gary was awesome! He was knowledgeable and kept us on pace. The places he took us was amazing and the history of the area was spot on.
Meh at best
Of all the food tours I have done throughout the world, this was my least favorite. London has such a great diversity of foods, I had high expectations based on the previous reviews and itinerary and was greatly disappointed. Most other food tours have the guide call or text ahead to the restaurant so there is less of a waiting time upon arrival. Not this one. We would get to each spot and wait 15-20 min for our food sample. There were only 3 people on the tour, so it wasn’t like a large quantity of food was necessary. During that time the guide was often busy texting on her phone and had minimal information about the foods or places. There were some places she pointed out things along the way between tasting spots, but overall there wasn’t muah substance to the tour. The Mediterranean food was great, but consisted of common foods like pita hummus, grape leaves, and tzatziki — all things that we on the tour had had many times before. The Indian stop was mediocre at best (and I love Indian food!) and the Chinese stop was another very common Chinese food — bao (buns). It’s also worth nothing that at none of the first 3 stops were we offered anything to drink except tap water (obviously we knew it would be an extra charge). Waiting for 20 minutes for food without offer of a beverage other than a small glass of water wasn’t ideal to say the least. At the final stop (dessert) we were offered our choice of beer, soft drink, or bottled water. Beer with dessert- no thanks. Our guide was nice but seemed distracted and uninterested throughout the tour. I’m sure there are great food tours in London, but this was not one for us.
Great food- great guide- great experience
We did the three hour version with 7 stops of the Original Soho and Chinatown Food Tour and highly recommend it. Hopefully this three hour version will be made available for folks again. Our guide Paul was absolutely amazing- he was SO knowledgeable and full of good stories, friendly, fun and a wealth of good advice. The historical stories are a big part of the tour. The food of course was amazing as well- the beauty of these tours is that they feature food samplings from the best places that we would never find on our own. It also means no waiting in line and most of the stops had considerable lines. Such a great way to learn more about the city while enjoying great food with good company.
Taste of Soho with a helping of Rock and Roll history
Our guide, Paul did a great job explaining the history of the area while guiding us through the promised Culinary delights. Great food and a very informative tour. I would highly recommend this.
