Unforgettable memories on a private guided tour of the surprising São Paulo
My wife and I had a magic half day on a Saturday exploring the historic city centre on foot. Our private guide Gustavo introduced us to the rich history and sights of São Paulo. From food stalls of the Japanese neighbourhood, the neo-gothic architecture of the Cathedral, the history of the Jesuit order and the importance of the river system, followed by a stroll through the financial district to the Theatro Municipal. One of the best moments of the tour was the trip to the observation deck at the Santander building (in the financial district) with 360 degree views over the huge sprawling city. The undoubted highlight of tour was the wander down the bustling street stalls of the Lebanese district selling nearly everything, down the hill to the market “Mercado Municipal”. A kaleidoscope of colours awaits with the most amazing fruit you’ve ever seen. Oils, wines, fresh fish and meats of every kind. We lingered here for lunch and a cold beer and a caipirinha. All up, a truly unforgettable experience and a must do if you’re visiting São Paulo especially in the weekend. Thanks so much Gustavo!
