Itinerary

1

Explore a very distinctive tourist attraction located in Ždiar – a village with a very unique folk architecture and culture, at the very north of Slovakia (in slovakian: chodnik korunami stromov). It is a place situated around 10 kilometres away from Polish border and around 40 kilometres away from Zakopane – charming little town in Poland. Firstly, you take a 30-40 minutes walk up the hill to reach to a wooden path which is from 18 to 24 metres high and is surrounded by marvellous tree crowns. The wooden pavement is held by huge pillars and the route that you walk is more than 600 metres long. You will find yourself in the heart of forests in Bachledova Valley with the tops of trees within your arm's reach. You will enjoy a breathtaking, panoramic view of Tatra Mountains and Pieniny National Park and with a fair weather Pieniny range with the three crowns massif. It is a perfect choice for everyone, also for families with children, for trees' and mountains' lovers and for adrenalin hunters. For the latter there are special fragments of the route with obstacles, which can be also omitted. Along the way you will learn about rare, local wildlife by reading educational plaques, which will also increase your ecological awareness. You can't get really bored over there! This exciting walk leads to the 32 metres high observation platform situated on the border of Pieniny National Park and Tatras National Park. From there you can drive down a 60 metres long slide straight to the ground level or you can walk your way down the hill. This all-year-round attraction is for people of all ages, so do not hesitate to try it!

During this tour you will be able to see the Chocholow village, which features traditional wooden houses that have been built by the local highlanders years ago. Along your way spot out the beautiful and historically famed wooden chapels. Visit Krupowki, the main street of Zakopane. Meet some locals, see what village life has to offer and shop for some souvenirs. On this trip you will be able to view the ski jump hill, which is used for the Grant Prix Ski Jump Competition.

Beautiful area

Very enjoyable trip with my (adult) daughter. We were the only ones booked on the trip so Oskar gave us some extra time at the treetop walk, which we needed due to wintery conditions. The staff at the tree top walk worked hard to clear the path. I have chronic pain in my leg and managed the walk easily enough. The views were beautiful. Oskar ensured we knew exactly where we were going. Next Oskar took us into Zakopane. Again the view of the mountains was beautiful. Oskar came to our location when we were finished and didn't expect us to find him which was good. Next Oskar took us to a little traditional Polish shop where we had some feshly grilled cheese and cranberry which we enjoyed. It was good to be given such a traditional experience. Oskar also showed us Chochołów, the lovely little village where all the house are wood. Oskar was a polite, friendly and helpful.

Excelente

The trip exceeded our expectations. We traveled as a couple and were fortunate to have Oskar as our guide. He shared interesting facts about Poland, its history, its culture, and more. He also answered all of our questions, always with a smile, very polite, and with great motivation and a positive attitude. Oskar was also very resourceful when dealing with numerous traffic jams and accidents on the road, as there were many people that day (sunshine and pleasant temperatures in the last days of December). In addition, he always allowed us to take our time to visit the places and take photographs. We began the excursion by going to Slovakia and visiting the Treetop Walk Bachledka. Afterwards, we visited Zakopane and, although it did not appear in the excursion we had booked, he also included the Zakopane funicular, a visit to an old Polish house for a tasting of typical grilled cheeses and Polish vodka. Oskar also took us to visit a small village where people still live in very old wooden houses. We would repeat without hesitation, and we hope you are lucky enough to have Oskar as your guide; we recommend requesting him from the company Legendary Krakow or through the website where you make your reservation.

Treetop and Zacopane

The Tatras mountains are so beautiful. We recommend the Treetop Walk because you can see the mountains very clear. Zopane is a tourist place, a lot of shops to buy souvenirs and coffee shops. Jacob, the driver, was very friendly and explained to us a lot of things of the places. Good experience!
