Insightful and enjoyable tour

This was the most amazing experience. Our guide Nacho is an art historian and was candid in saying there is so much to see at the Prado it's difficult to decide what to show. He showed us many major pieces, including Fra Angelico's "Annunciation"; Hieronymus Bosch's "The Garden of Earthly Delights"; Goya's "The 3rd of May" and Diego Velázquez' "Las Meninas." With each. Nacho shared history as it pertained to the piece and explained details of each painting. Surprisingly fascinating was the studio copy of the "Mona Lisa" and its history. (You can also see this version easily and close, unlike the original it was copied from in Leonardo da Vinci's studio, which is in the Louvre.) After the tour, on our own, we visited the Dauphin’s Treasures, which Nacho had recommended. It's a spectacular collection luxury items from the 1500 and 1600s, featuring carved rock crystal, agate, lapis and jade mounted in gold, silver, and embellished with cameos, enameling and tiny jewels. I know many critics are dismissive of objects made for pleasure like Faberge, but if you're not a snob you will find these pieces amazing and enchanting. Our meeting place required a short walk to the Prado and perhaps we got in quicker than some others, but there was still a line for security screening. The gift shop had some fun items and is worth perusing carefully. (Loved the Mona Lisa sleep mask featuring her eyes.) Lunch was okay, but the staff doesn't listen to what you ask for and if you want ice with your drink you have to ask. That was the one disappointment as we like to try the cafes of museums.

Must do in Madrid

Recommend this tour to get a better understanding of the different artist and their style. Easy to understand and friendly tour guide. The price is reasonable as it also includes the entrance ticket and you can stay as long as you want to see more of the artwork that are not covered.

Must check out this tour!

I absolutely love this tour. It was very easy to find our guide and the whole process was seamless. Our guide was very thorough and very passionate about art and it is very obvious in his presentation. Totally loved the experience.

Missed Opportunity

Unfortunately this tour did not happen for me. Although I was contacted for another time slot and tried to confirm the time change offered multiple times. I had did not receive a response for the reschedule. Very disappointing. I would like to request a refund.

Take the day

This was a nice tour that explored the more famous exabits in the museum. I would recommend to anyone interested to book an early tour and take the rest of the day exploring the museum at your own leisure.
