Hook Lighthouse - a jewel in maritime history.
Having been to the Hook Peninsula over the years, it was only fitting to book a tour at Hook Lighthouse. The day itself lend to the experience as it was typical - rain and wind. The scene is set with rugged coastline and angry scenes, with John as our most animated guide we began our assent to the top through the passing of time, so much history, so much pride. So well worth it - a tour not to be missed, one can forget how important these impressive structures are to our maritime history.
Interesting tour, passionate tour guide, dramatic weather - brilliant couple of hours!
After the hottest UK summer on record, our pre-booked holiday to Ireland came a couple of weeks into the not-so-nice weather, and the morning of our lighthouse trip was no exception - winds so strong it almost blew us over! But that made our trip even more amazing as we appreciated the dangers of the ocean around the lighthouse and the need for having it both now and hundreds of years ago. John, our guide, was incredible - so passionate in his explanations of how things were done 600yrs ago and how the lighthouse came to be, the people who build and lived (yes lived) in it, and the story of William Marshall (you need to hear to appreciate). Truly, if you go, do the guided tour and, if you get John as your guide you'll really enjoy it. Oh and don't worry if the weather's not great - it won't matter in the slightest. I also recommend lunch in the café - the food is delicious and the portions very generous.

John was an amazing tour guide. Truly a great experience and highly recommend. Made it engaging and he truly has a love for the lighthouse and the history of the region. We came with a 12,9 & 7 year old and this is a great spot for families. Highly recommend walking the surrounding grounds and catching the spectacular views. We stayed in Duncannon and this was a well needed stop. We went early morning and got some amazing pictures.
Do the tour of the lighthouse
Fascinating. Our guide Paul was wonderful and very interesting. I highly recommend this trip even if there is a mist.

Great experience! Our guide John was fun and knowledgeable. This is the oldest working lighthouse in the world and it was impressive. Highly recommend this tour but must be able to climb 100+ steps. There is also a nice coffee shop and bookstore. We were there on a beautiful day and the views were stunning.
