Full description

Head South to where the mountains rise out of the ocean to hike to the top of Mount Tarn in the Patagonian Andes.   Located 45 minutes away from Downtown Punta Arenas, this little-trafficked hiking trail will take you from a pebbled sea-level beach up 800 metres to the peak.   Taste the salty air of the strait as you climb through the green forests that cover the base of Mount Tarn, contrasting with the blue of the Strait of Magellan.   As you hike, walk in the footsteps of naturalist Charles Darwin, and learn how his time in Patagonia inspired his thoughts on natural selection. Near the summit, experience the swirling winds and dry air of the High Andean desert as you hike surrounded by breathtaking views of Isla Dawson, the Darwin Mountain Range, and the Brunswick Peninsula. Enjoy snacks and a boxed lunch of fresh, local ingredients on the trail.

After your hike, stop off at a historical ranch for a meal of traditional Patagonian flavours served by a family of local legends.
