Full description

Most food tours move at an adult's pace and hope kids keep up. This private tour is built the other way around: churros fresh from the fryer, a ham and cheese tasting at a working local market, and pintxos at an Old Town bar, all paced around your own kids. An Adventure Booklet turns the walk into a treasure hunt, and a stop at a traditional pastry/candy shop closes out the morning. Built for families who want San Sebastián's food culture without rushing anyone.

Begin with the delicious taste of churros, and watch the dough hit hot oil before it's dusted with sugar. Dunk each piece into thick hot chocolate while your guide gets to know your family and the day ahead. Parents get a coffee and an actual minute to sit down before the walking starts.

From there, head into the Old Town, the neighborhood where the city's food reputation was actually born. Kids get an Adventure Booklet and start working through challenges as you pass historic squares and pintxos bars just starting to fill up. Your guide tells two versions of every story: the fun one for the kids, the fuller one for you.

Step into one of the city's working food markets, still stocked each morning by the same vendors locals rely on for dinner. At a family-run stall, taste ham and cheese while your guide slips in a few words of Spanish and Basque for the kids to try out.

At an Old Town pintxos bar, the whole family gets a plate of the tradition that put this city on the culinary map, tortilla de patatas included. Parents get a drink alongside it, and your guide explains the unwritten etiquette locals use without thinking twice.

The morning ends at a pastry/candy shop, where kids choose their own treat from a case of Basque candy, the last challenge of the Adventure Booklet checked off in the process.

Lara was a wonderful local tour guide!! The whole trip was as seamless, fun, and we felt prepared with parking logistics. Highly recommend the morning tour, as there was very little traffic and we had fewer tourists to navigate around. Also be prepared to be soaked on the boat tour! The priority tickets get you to the front of the boat and the waterfall spray hits you directly in the face. So fun!!
