Itinerary
Mission Espada is the oldest of San Antonio’s five Spanish colonial missions, founded in 1690 and relocated to its current site in 1731. Known for its charming, rustic architecture and peaceful setting, Espada was a hub for teaching trades like blacksmithing and weaving to Indigenous converts. Its original aqueduct system, part of an impressive irrigation network, still stands as a testament to Spanish engineering.
Mission San Juan, established in 1731, is known for its serene, park-like setting and simple white chapel. Originally intended as a self-sustaining community, it included farmland, living quarters, and workshops. Mission San Juan played a key role in agriculture, producing crops and goods that supported the region. Today, visitors can explore its peaceful grounds and learn about the daily life of the Indigenous people and missionaries who lived there.
Mission San José, known as the Queen of the Missions, is the largest and most stunning of San Antonio’s Spanish colonial sites. Founded in 1720, it features a beautifully carved stone church, the famous Rose Window, and original walls that once sheltered hundreds of Indigenous residents. With its rich history, restored buildings, and vibrant grounds, it offers an unforgettable glimpse into early Texas life.
A community space celebrating the UNESCO-listed San Antonio Missions, with exhibits and stories that connect the missions to the surrounding neighborhoods, culture, and history.
Mission Concepción is the best-preserved Spanish colonial church in the U.S., with original frescoes still visible after nearly 300 years. Completed in 1755, its striking twin towers and rich history make it a must-see on the San Antonio Mission Trail. This active parish offers visitors a glimpse into the vibrant culture and faith that shaped early Texas.
Pass by: Alamo Plaza is home to the historic Alamo, site of the 1836 Battle of the Alamo and one of Texas’s most significant landmarks, surrounded by a vibrant public square rich in culture and history.

Traveler reviews
A must do trip. Nancy was the best tour guide.
Amazing trip with Nancy. Myself and my husband have travelled extensively and been on many trips but I can honestly say Nancy was the best guide / host I have ever experienced, her extensive knowledge, warm and kind manner and clear passion for what she does was unparalleled. Visiting the missions and hearing about the history of San Antonio was a highlight of our trip. 10 out of 10 you should book this trip!
Do it, no regrets.
I’m in San Antonio for a conference and decided to get a bit of history as well. I chose this tour because I love the concept of missions and their effect on society and culture. I also absolutely love old buildings still in use and old buildings that had seen better days. The chance to photograph old rock building with a touch of religion tossed in was one I could not pass up. Plus it was a National Park and UNESCO site. The tour company See sights furnished the van and driver/guide. First the van. It was clean, smooth and everything worked including seat belts and AC. I also appreciated the pick up right at my hotel. The guide, Nancy, was above and beyond one of the best guides I’ve ever had while on this kind of trip. She was very personable, knowable and patient with all my curious questions. She loves her job and it shows. She engages the park rangers in a way that is rarely seen in tour guides. Through her ability to bring the rangers into the tour, my experience was beyond what I expected. Usually you get a nod and welcome, but when the rangers were actually chatting about local history points or architectural marvels, you knew something special was happening. I highly recommend this tour. It was educational, fun, historic, and great photography. Do it, you won’t regret it.
It was fantastic
Nancy was awesome. He knowledge and enthusiasm were spectacular. Started farthest away to closest to San Antonio which gave us a good feel for the area and scope of the system. Incredible history of the area. Amazing frescos, and art work as well as interesting icons and architecture. No church was the same design and all had slightly different purposes.
An Absolute Worthwhile Tour
Our tour of the missions with SeeSights exceeded all of our expectations. Nancy, our tour guide, was so knowledgeable and brought these missions to life. She shared so much with us, answered all of our questions and it was obvious how much she enjoyed her job. She was so friendly and so excited to share the missions with us. I cannot recommend this tour, this company and especially Nancy highly enough. It’s a must when you come to SanAntonio!
Wow! Awesome experience, awesome guide incredibly engaging
Wow, what an awesome experience touring the missions churches with Nancy. Little did we know that each mission had its own characteristics and role with in each community and within the overall group of missions. Not only were they spreading the faith they were also building self sufficient communities. The transfer of knowledge from the old world to the new world is so cool to learn about. Nancy’s knowledge, experience, and continual learning is incredible. She provided fabulous information, answered questions and did so in such a joyful way. Awesome tour, awesome experience, awesome guide, incredibly engaging and fun. Thank you Nancy. We highly recommend this tour!
