About this activity

A 5-minute sail from Gidive Center Palamós and a few meters from Llosa de Palamós, we find the Boreas.

Highlights

  • The Boreas is a 40-meter-long ship that was sunk in 1989 to create a marine biotope in the waters off Palamós. Its original name was Pellworm, and it was originally a deep-sea tugboat of the German Navy that served during the
  • During the war it passed into the hands of the American army, later returned to the German army and finally passed into civilian use with the Panamanian flag,
  • being seized by the authorities for drug trafficking in 1989 on the coast of Begur.

Full description

We'll begin the dive by descending the rope located at the bow of the boat, at about 22 meters.

Upon reaching the end of the rope, we'll head directly to see the propeller located at a depth of 32 meters.

From here, we'll ascend to the aft deck where we'll begin exploring the various confined spaces, starting with the hold, where we'll find an airlock.

We'll continue through the engine room, passing through the galley, and ending in the captain's cabin, where we'll be able to see the cockpit.

There are other rooms that are more difficult to access and of little interest to the diver.

Finally, we'll explore the entire deck of the boat, looking for conger eels hidden in some of the Boreas' endless nooks and crannies.

Remember to check your computer often, as it's easy to enter decompression mode.

A guia Mariana foi muito simpática e instrutiva. O tour passa pelos principais pontos relevantes do centro de San José. A comida servida no final do tour é o ponto alto. Poderiam cobrar um pouco menos para termos um melhor custo benefício aqui. Mesmo assim vale a pena, pois andar por conta própria no centro de San José pode ser perigoso.
