Traveler reviews
Enjoyable & educational tour of the Forum and Palatine Hill.
Highly educational experience, learning about Roman life in and around the Forum. Our tour guide, who was a college professor, did an amazing job explaining the historical facts about Roman history, emperors, Senators, and the Palatine Hill. It was an amazing experience.
Our guide was nice, there...
Our guide was nice, there wasn’t much detail given to try to imagine the rubble in its original form. Would have appreciated more history rather than rushing through.
The Forum
The guide was factually incorrect on some occasions. Didn’t answer questions when group participants asked. Tried to promote his book at the end for 15,00 euros. The meeting point was not clearly communicated to us, and the guide waited until the tour began to call me. The wrong pin was dropped to me, with the incorrect address. I had to call again to get the exact address. Tickets are 18,00 euros if purchased directly from the venue. We spent 44,00 euros per person (total 88,00 euros) which was worth skipping the lines, but would have preferred a nicer and more knowledge guide.
Could Have Been Better
This tour was spoiled by the heavy accent of our guide. He was personable and helpful, but we only could understand about half of what he said.
A Mistake
I made the mistake of scheduling the tour the day we were leaving, instead of the day before. When we got to the meeting site, the Tour Guide was very helpful and told us of the mistake, so immediately contacted the provider. We were told that the 24 hour cancellation policy didn't apply because we contacted them 5 minutes late (23:55 minutes).
