Traveler reviews
So glad we did not miss The Forum and Palatine Wall
The tour was very good. Anthony was a terrific guide. He was very knowledgeable, considerate, had a great sense of humor, but his accent could be a little difficult to understand occasionally.
Disappointed
The tour titled ‘Roman Forum & Palatine Hill Guided Tour’ was not as described. An optional add on tour of the Colosseum was incorporated into the tour, which we had previously visited. There was not enough time to do all three tours, so the tour of Palatine Hill was eliminated and replaced by the Colosseum tour. We were told we could do Palatine Hill on our own. A 35-40 minute wait to enter the Forum was factored into the tour time. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the Forum. This review is not a reflection on him. Disappointed the tour was not as described. Felt more like a bait and switch.
Find some Cliff Notes!!
Barbara the tour guide talked way too much!! We’d walk 10 steps and stop for a 10 minute history lesson. Too detailed history! We just wanted to know what we were looking at and the significance. Couple this with the fact that our reservation was moved from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. and we weren’t even in line for the security check until 11:30! We turned in our head sets (which were cutting out continuously) and left the group at the second stop. Terrible experience!
Our guide Alec was...
Our guide Alec was wonderful. But this tour was only if the forum. It did not include anything of the Palentine Hill. In fact the tour never went to the Palentine Hill. The rest of the group went to the forum that we did not want to see. We wanted to see The forum and the Palentine hill. That is how this tour was advertised. I think this was a ripoff. If I would have known that you had to buy extra tickets to see the museums on the Palentine hill and that there was not going to be a guide I never would have taken this trip. I want my money back !!! Ripoff
Great history lesson with a personal touch.
Georgia offered detailed insights into the history of the Roman Forum and Palantine Hill as well as what life was like for people in those times. I was especially intrigued to learn of the construction techniques in Roman times.
