Itinerary
To get to know the reality of the favela up close walking down the alleys of Rocinha and experience the day-to-day life of the community, knowing the way people live.
As the favela is very widespread, to order to access some amazing viewpoints, take a moto-taxi ride uphill to have an overview of Rocinha experiencing an incredible adrenaline through the narrow alleys.
Tourists visit community centers for the production of handicrafts and take a walk through the shopping area reaching the handcraft fair. Residents sell jewelries, decorative objects and souvenirs that enchants visitors.
Visit the Laboriaux viewpoint, the highest point in the favela, from where you have a privileged view of the beaches and slopes of the Tijuca Forest.
Visit the studio of one of the greatest graffiti artists in Rio de Janeiro. Native from Rocinha, Wark was a pioneer in the graffiti movement in the largest favela in Brazil, which attracted the attention and handshakes of prominent Brazilian leaders, including Lula da Silva, former president of Brazil. Wark also promotes frequent exhibitions in the city and receives hundreds of reais for his works. Wark also founded the Wark Institute, a school for young people in Rocinha to learn and practice art.
One of the main attractions of Rocinha is the visit to the home of Mrs.Maria, who has lived in the favela for 32 years. There is stunning view of São Conrado beach and the favela itself from the slab of her house.

Take the walking tour
The Racina favela walking tour was amazing. The area is very interesting, the residents were very friendly, and the sights were breath taking. My guide RAFAEL was the best. He knew so much about the area and was polite and professional. He arrived on time and waited with me for return ride. Priceless. Highly recommended!
The best day of the entire vacation!
My 73-year-old mother and I went on this tour today and was a day we will never forget!! Two women from the US completely out of our element, yet we were never concerned for our safety, The tour guide spoke very good English, and was extremely knowledgeable about the area because grew up there and still lives there. He treated us like family introducing us to his sister and many friends as we passed by. I have no words to describe how grateful we are to be able to go all the way to the top, be welcomed into actual homes, and learn so much along the way. Absolutely amazing experience!!
Eye opening tour
We spent a fun and informative few hours in the company of our excellent guide Carlos exploring the favela. We learned so much and saw places we could never have seen on our own. Highly recommended and very safe. Thanks Carlos!
The best experience in Brazil with Erik
Erik is one of the most communicative and interesting person I've met. His view of Rocinha is extremely deep and reliable, since he was born and raised in the Rocinha favela and is very engaged in the social issues of his community. He is an excellent guide to show you the favela walking through the alleys and offer an afternoon with lots of learning, listening to the stories of the place and interacting with the residents. Visiting Rocinha is one of the best experiences in Rio, where you can take excellent photos and eat the best savory snacks at the lowest price in the city. He is also the best person to show you Rocinha at night, where you can find restaurants serving northeastern and Japanese food at an excellent price, as well as endless bar options. And on this tour you will discover how Rocinha at night is one of the most lively places in the city. I definitely recommend the tour with Erik, he is an amazing and fun person to be with.
