Traveler reviews
Wonderful tour!
Great tour - a nice introduction to Iceland and Reykjavik. They were also flexible. Our flight to Iceland was last minute delayed an entire day, meaning we would miss the tour which I had already booked (and was technically not refundable with under 24 hour cancellation). I messaged them though and they quickly answered and graciously allowed us to come the following day.
City Walk - please get knowledgeable guides
Our guide was a a young woman named Jemma (not sure of the spelling) who was very friendly but sorely lacked knowledge on parts of the tour. For example, she showed the group paid public art drawings. One was what appeared to be a gray globe with fingers around it & facial drawings in the corners. When I asked the date it was made & the meaning, she did not know the meaning or the date. Her explanation was “ it is a globe”. If a guide goes out of their way to point out an art piece, they should be able to give more detail than this was a piece of public art. Several folks asked Jemma about housing as she pointed out that some houses on the tour were made of wood & aluminum. She told the group that houses in Iceland usually have single pane glass windows. This did not seem right & Chat gpt indicated double pane & in some cases triple pane windows were used in Iceland. Another individual asked about the frequency of elections in Iceland. Jemma told the group they were held every 10 years. This is not accurate. Jemma shared with the group that she did not speak or understand the language of Iceland & had only been living in Iceland for 4 months. If a guide does not know the information, giving misinformation is not right! Your company appears to have dropped your standards by hiring a guide who is certainly not knowledgeable about the tour she was hired to do but also basic information of the country itself. Needless to say, this tour did not live up to my expectations. Perhaps if one of your other guides was qualified, I would have learned accurate information.
Wonder introduction to Iceland
This walking tour was great introduction to Reykjavik and Iceland. Ágústa was an amazing guide. She knowledgeable about all the sites we visited and history of the city, country and people. There was time built into the tour that allowed us to visit shops that we passed along the route. She also provided great recommendations of places to visit for drinks and dinner. I cannot recommend this tour enough for anyone who wants a quick yet thorough introduction to Reykjavik.
Great and Fun Walking Tour
My wife and I started our Iceland vacation in Reykjavik with this very interesting and informative walking tour. The tour guide was funny, engaging and made the experience very enjoyable. We like to take walking tours when we arrive at a new city for the first time as it gives us a good overview of the culture, location and is usually a good source of recommendations. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone arriving in Reykjavik for the first time.
A Great Way to Meet Reykjavik
A group of 5 adults that planned to spend 3 nights in Reykjavik before boarding a cruise. We booked the small group walking tour for the afternoon of our arrival day so that we could learn about the history of the city and the location of places to visit. Due to airport delays we arrived a day later than planned. I booked this tour on the CityWalk website and reached out by email 24 hours before the scheduled tour on Thursday. They were great and rescheduled us for Saturday morning which worked in our itinerary. We are so glad we were able to tour the city with a local guide that was knowledgeable and entertaining. Thank you for being easy to work with and providing a great tour.
