Full description

Wander off the neon-lit main streets and world-famous scramble intersection and into the nostalgic heart of Shibuya, where history lingers in the alleyways, and flavors tell the story of Japan’s post-war time. On this immersive night out, our expert guide will transport you to a time when Showa-era Japan was rebuilding, innovating, and indulging in the simple pleasures of great food and good company. Slip into hidden local gems, beloved by Tokyoites for generations, and taste your way through the soul of the city. Savor a steaming bowl of rich, umami-packed ramen from a shop that has satisfied loyal customers for over six decades. Bite into crispy, golden kushikatsu—deep-fried skewers —paired with a perfectly poured drink. Step into a cozy bar where craft beer flows, and regional specialties change with the seasons, just as the locals love it. And for the grand finale? We won’t spoil the surprise, but expect a nostalgic treat that will make your inner child grin. Shibuya’s past and present come alive in every sip, bite, and story—are you ready to taste history?

Melissa was a fantastic guide! She took us to a variety of delicious spots that we never in a million years would have found on our own. She is knowledgeable, warm, and a delight to be with. Highly recommend! (The meetup point was just a little tough, mostly due to a protest at the station; highly recommend the what3words app to pinpoint an exact location.)

We had a truly wonderful evening at the Evening with Maiko – Special Kaiseki Dinner with a Geisha Performance in Kyoto. The evening was beautifully organised from start to finish and gave us a fascinating insight into a unique part of Japanese culture. The kaiseki dinner was delicious, and the Maiko performance was elegant, graceful and a real privilege to experience. A very special thank you goes to our guide, Yoshiko, who was warm, knowledgeable and engaging throughout the evening. She explained the traditions and customs with great enthusiasm, making the experience both enjoyable and easy to understand. Her passion for Kyoto’s culture really shone through. We would also like to thank the lovely Maiko who performed for us. Although we can’t remember her name, she was incredibly graceful, charming and patient during the performance and question-and-answer session. It was an unforgettable opportunity to see such a beautiful art form up close. This was one of the highlights of our visit to Kyoto, and we would highly recommend it to anyone wanting an authentic and memorable cultural experience. Thank you to everyone involved for such a special evening.
