Red Sea Resort Day Trip from Cairo

Of all our day trips booked during our stay in Egypt this one was the most disappointing. The company Emo Tours Egypt in Cairo, never communicated with us after the initial confirmation months ago. My husband finally emailed the night before to confirm details for the 7am pick up and no one ever answered the email. (All the other tour companies we used emailed and WhatsApped us with the car and driver) We were at the door of our hotel for our 7am pick up at 6:45am. No one came! We rang and no one seems to know anything about our booking. I messaged on their website and someone finally communicated. Over an hour after our pick up was supposed to be, a guide arrived and we waited for the car. The guide Mostafa was very nice and friendly. He explained that the original guide was unable to come so he had been called at the last minute. My husband received a message that our driver and car was in an accident on the way to us so a new one was on the way. (to be honest it seemed like a lot of excuses for the company completely forgetting about our booking!!) The driver Gamal arrived and he was nice and polite. Despite our reservations we headed off with them. Mostafa stopped and bought my husband a coffee for the journey and assured us he would do everything to make the day wonderful. Our booking was for a day at a Red Sea resort with a private room for the day, a pool, a beach and lunch provided. Mostafa said the owner of the company wanted to offer us a free villa upgrade as an apology. We thanked him and said that would be lovely. Two hours later we arrived at a very run down looking resort. They drove around unsure of where to go?? Finally found someone from the office and Mostafa and the man had a very loud and somewhat heated and animated conversation. Following that we drove back out and across the highway. We drove up a hill into a half built development and they stopped outside a villa and said we were there. Go get changed and we would go to lunch! It was 10am!!! I said no! We don’t care about free villa! We want what we booked. A resort where we can have a room and walk to and from the beach and pool at our leisure!! Mostafa made a call and we drove another 45 minutes to a seaside resort. He checked us in and we were shown to a room. The resort was nice although definitely NOT 4* as the booking promised. It was clean and quite quiet. We enjoyed a comfortable room, a deserted sandy beach, a relax around the pool and drinks overlooking the sea! The scenery was stunning. Mostafa had a very nice lunch brought to a poolside table for us to enjoy complete with desserts. After a relaxing afternoon we met him in the lobby and we were driven back to our hotel. Mostafa stopped several times trying to find my husband a milky coffee for the journey and finally found one 10 minutes from our hotel. Gamal had a nice clean car and drove well given the distance and the difficult roads on the journey. He made us feel safe on crazy roads. Mostafa had obviously been tasked with trying to make up for a series of errors on the company’s part. He did a good job of making the best of a bad situation. This company however ‘Emo Tours Egypt’ of Cairo was a complete shambles!! They obviously completely forgot about our booking and then tried to offer an “upgrade” as a way to book us in somewhere cheaper and second rate! It was NOT what we had booked for but thanks to Mostafa we at least had some time relaxing by the Red Sea - even if we spend more time driving than there due to all the mixups. We CANNOT recommend this company for outings at all. We spent a week in Cairo and used four companies for excursions - this was the worst by far!!

We had an excellent day at the sea, accompanied by Ahmedh, Mohamed, and Imo. The latter welcomed us into his house, which we share with other visitors. We have access to the beach with a pedal boat and kayaks, as well as the possibility of going into pools. Ahmedh was very attentive, had us taste an Egyptian meal, and let us enjoy our day! Thanks to Imo and his pedal boat, we were able to see dolphins! It was a fairly local experience. A very good day!

It was very boring. The guide mosa was amazing he did his best to keep us laughing and entertained. Guide was amazing as well as driver. The beach has nothing not even people it’s very boring. The place we stayed at was someone else’s house we just had a room not a whole hotel room just a room in someone’s house. The pool area and beach were very quiet. There are just plastic chairs to sit on no beds and the sand is hard. Sand had lots of cigarette buds all over. The long chairs to lay on are only by the pool and they’re plastic and hard. Trip/experience not the best we left early because of how boring it was.

Halim and the driver were amazing! We even booked a second tour with them for the next day. I would definitely recommend using as guides and drivers them when you are in Egypt

Beautiful day in Red Sea accommodations were nice food was good. Driver Hamed was professional and good service. Tour guide Mariam slept most of the day not helpful and wasn’t too knowledgeable. Ask for Hamed to be your driver.
