Discover why Wicklow is known as the 'Garden of Ireland' on your small group private tour, After your chosen Dublin city pick up, explore the South Dublin Coastline passing through towns such as Dun Laoghire, Sandycove, and Dalkey home to a host of Irish stars.
Relax with a morning coffee in the Avoca cafe in Powerscourt, where you can shop for high quality Irish handcrafts before heading into the heart of the Wicklow Mountains National Park.
Explore remote mountain passes with spectacular views of glacial lakes and infinite shades of green. Breath in the crisp mountain air with a short guided walk at the Sally Gap with stunning views of Lough Tay and the Guiness Family estate. This area is so unique and spectacular that it was chosen as the backdrop to the 'Vikings' series and movies like 'Braveheart'.
After a break for lunch at a traditional Irish pub where you can taste the local specialities, it's back on the road to Glendalough. An enchanting 6th century monastic settlement complete with round tower, the jewel of the National Park. Marvel at the history of the hermit priest St Kevin and the enchanting settlement at Glendalough. Hike from the lower lake to the upper lake and discover one of the 'off the beaten track' mountain trails which provide stunning views of the Glacial valley.
Then it's time take an alternate route through the National Park on your return to Dublin city center and your chosen destination. This is a suggested tour itinerary based on our lenghty experience of providing day tours in Wicklow however we are happy to work with your group to tailor the tour to your requirements. There are many more worthwhile destinations in Wicklow such as Powerscourt Waterfall and Avoca village. There are also excellent hillwalking and mountain biking opportunities. Could be great!
Brian was a very wonderful and informative guide and brought us to many great locations throughout the day including a wonderful lunch spot, great coastal and remote areas! Unfortunately the van was the problem. Diesel vapors were flowing through the air conditioning and it was EXTREMELY bumpy (new shocks needed) especially for those in the very back which made for a very uncomfortable ride. Other than the van I would recommend a tour with Brian.
Wonderful Wicklow Day Tour
My wife and I booked a private day tour with a car and driver that took us from our hotel in Dublin to Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains and back. Brian, our driver, was perfect, exhibiting the wit, wisdom and gentle humor of the Irish. He knew the countryside intimately and was able to take us to some fabulous locations with breathtaking scenery and interesting history. We were also able to customize the itinerary to meet our specific interests and had as much or as little free time at any of the stops as we desired. All in all, we had a wonderful experience in the Irish countryside. I would highly recommend a private car and driver for anyone who does not want to navigate the small country lanes or confusing city streets on their own (all the while driving on, what is for us, the wrong side of the road). It is also a prefect way to set your own agenda and avoid the rush and the crowds of a scheduled bus tour.

Wonderful day exploring the Wicklow Mountains area
Our group of 5 (all seniors) had a wonderful day with Brian during our one day cruise stop in Dublin. Brian began the tour with a drive down the south coast to see the beautiful views and to show us homes of the "rich and famous" in the area. Then we headed to the Wicklow Mountains for an outstanding day with several stops along the way. Brian shared a lot of history about the areas we toured. I would definitely book with him again the next time we're in the Dublin area.

What a fun day trip with such a lovely guide! Brian took us on a private day trip to the Wicklow Mountains. He is an expert navigator - showing us the sites and updating us on the Irish history. He also had a professional camera and took many family photos - memories we’ll cherish forever! We ended the day listening to live Irish music. We hope to book him on our next trip!
