Itinerary
Pass by: After pick up from your Amman hotel, set off into the bustling Jabal Amman district. If there’s something you want to see more of the same area, tell your escort as your itinerary can be tailored around you as it’s a private and personal tour.
Head for Rainbow Street, a road that encapsulates Amman’s energy and arts scene. Stroll by bookshops, cafés, and 1920s villas. Pause at the Rainbow Theater and traditional Al Pasha Hammam bathhouse. Savor some street snacks or breakfast such as a “falafel sandwich” (deep-fried chickpea patty) or “kunafa”, a local cheese-filled pastry encrusted with pistachios. Explore Malouf Street, nicknamed “Souk Jara”, known for its summer market (Operational on Fridays). Visit Jordan River Designs and Bani Hamida, two local crafts galleries. You may saunter down Mango Street, past the historical buildings of the Royal Film Commission, Nabad Gallery, and Books@Cafe. Browse the handmade goods at Wild Jordan, and artisans’ hotspot of Beit Shocair. Break up your exploring with free time to souvenir-shops.
If you are interested in street food experience on this walking tour, it can be arranged for you to try some of the most famous street food shops like Hashem or Abu Jbara or downtown local food restaurants for Jordanian dishes with our special tea with mint or Arabic aromatic local coffee, to be paid by you directly in destination.
Set off into Jabal Al-Weibdeh by vehicle, one of Amman’s oldest and hippest districts. Hear about Al - Weibdeh’s history, and learn why it’s emerging as an artistic hotspot. Stroll the winding streets, admiring the stone buildings and leafy lanes, and tune into the area’s contemporary art scene. Visit the trendy art galleries (at your own expense) showcasing the city’s contemporary art. Absorb the creative vibe at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, and Makan Arts Space, an alternative arts venue. Admire the Arabic art at Darat Al Funun gallery, set in three 1920s villas; and visit Dar El Anda, another arts hub inside a historical building. See the National Museum Park and visit the Paris Circle, the heart of Weibdeh. Take in the pretty park in this lively square, and learn how it got its French name. Upgrade for Lunch: Enjoy a home-cooked lunch at Café Najla or similar, a local authentic trendy restaurant serving traditional Jordanian cuisine.
You also have the chance to walk along the Boulevard, Amman’s new trendy down town area, to explore the shops and get entertained with any local activity taking place in town, to be amused and delighted in the local “Ammani” culture. At the convenient time, pick up and return to your local Amman hotel.
Upgrade to a 4-hour tour after your city visit, proceed for an experience in Jordan’s local wine making. If you enjoy wine, you will love the Jordanian local wine. In this trip you will savor the Reserve Package, where a wine host will welcome you to enjoy a “How to Taste” introduction in the wine tasting room, where you will learn the fundamental skills of tasting wine. Then, take your time to sip in 3-sample glasses of un-oaked young vintage premium wine with crisp taste and medium finish that has been matured in French Barrique to enhance the natural aromas and characteristics of each single variety served in your glass, made of carefully handpicked grapes from our oldest Jordanian vines. Adventures in Amman
5/5 This tour was informative, perfectly timed and relaxed. Our guide Ibrahim wove facts about Jordan historically, economically and personally beautifully. Thank you
A Very Good Walking Tour
One of the better walking tours we've taken. Our guide led us through several markets, explained the local products, helped us with purchases, and gave us good insight into Jordanian culture. Even bought us some local Kunafa, and gave us a tour of the "Blue Mosque" as bonuses. No problem recommending this tour.
Not as expected
First let me say that Zaid was very nice and his driving skills were very good. That said, the tour was not as described. His English skills were very limited. Based on the description, we expected to be led on a walking tour with a guide that would describe the areas we were in. Instead, we were driven to areas where he intended to just let us out to walk around on our own. We asked that he come with us, which he did but with the limited English we got little to no information. If you're interested in being driven around then exploring on your own, this tour could work for you (driving in Amman is challenging and we felt safe with his driving). If you want a tour where the guide informs you about Amman, this tour does not fit the bill.
Evening Tour during Ramadan
Our driver was the lovely Basel. He was amusing and so laidback nothing was ever too much trouble. We did this during Ramadan in April and picked the 6pm slot. Tip: during Ramadan best to pick an earlier or later slot as by 6pm everything was shutting down for Iftar but it still worked out ok. Basel improvised and took us to King Abdullah mosque first which was lovely & peaceful and like everywhere we went in Jordan so welcoming to non muslims. Then he dropped us off to wander around downtown by which time it was heaving with people breaking their fast and then we drove around a few main districts and ended up in Rainbow Street which is surprisingly long and with a steep incline at the other end of it. Rainbow St was ok but I think it's probably livelier when it's not Ramadan. We felt super safe throughout.
Tour of Amman
A couple of months ago i took this very unique tour, the private Half Day Walking Tour of Amman. I had a wonderful afternoon exploring the city of Amman with my personal driver and guide Hassan!!! He was very kind, helpful and knowledgeable, which made my experience absolutly amazing!!! He gave me a fantastic insight of the city and the country, its culture and the gastronomy. I had the chance to walk around the Souk, try some special street food and walk around Rainbow Street. The agency, Zaid Tours, was very helpful and professional. They gracelly designed a personalized tour, where i also got to see Amman’s Roman Theater and the Citadel This tour is a MUST if you are visiting Amman!!!
