Itinerary
Begin your private tour with a pick-up from your central Amman hotel, and travel by comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle to Jerash with your own private English-Speaking Driver who doubles up as your guide. Wander among the original temples, theaters, plazas, paths and colonnaded streets, all enclosed within the remaining city walls. Within the city walls have been found the remains of settlements dating from the Bronze Age, the Iron Age, the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Umayyad, and Abbasid periods; indicating human occupation at this location for more than 2,500 years.
A local English-Speaking Guide will be included for your classic 2 hours visit of this Roman Decapolis City of Jerash. This ancient city was one of the most prosperous in the Roman Empire, and was covered by sand for centuries until its remnants were discovered in 1806. Head through the ancient city gate and walk around the well-preserved ruins as your guide tells you tales about the city in its heyday. See its arches, theaters, and elegant colonnaded street. Snap photos of the stunning Oval Plaza, the Temples of Zeus and Artemis, as well as the intriguing egg-shaped public square framed by standing columns.
Having explored here, continue to the 12th-century Castle of Ajloun, built in the time of Saladin to defend against Crusader armies. Head inside this semi-intact hilltop fortress, roam the rambling corridors and staircases. See the murder holes used by the invaders, and admire the stunning views over the lush hills of the Jordan Valley from the towers.
Next, drive to Pella, the remains of a Hellenistic city, and earlier and later settlements. First mentioned as “Pihilum” or “Pehel” by the Egyptians in the 19th century B.C. Pella prospered when the Romans arrived, building temples, theaters, and baths. See the antiquities, some dating back more than 8,000 years. Then, reconvene with your vehicle and relax on your long ride back to Amman where your trip ends with a hotel drop off.

Avoid Zaid Tours and Travel at All Costs
DO NOT BOOK this tour or with this tour operator. Other than providing a ride to the sites, the operator did not provide any other inclusions from the tour's "What's included" sections. Here's a quick recap: Hotel pick-up and drop -off - The provider did pick us up, albeit 30 minutes late. Private Transfer by air-conditioned leisure new vehicle according number of participants - The provider picked us up in a old van. English Speaking Driver - The driver did not speak even a single word of English. Entrance fees to Jerash Roman Ruins, Ajloun Castle, and Pella; if option Jordan Pass not selected - We had to pay out of pocket for each site. Zero entrance fees were provided. This cost us around an additional 150 JOD. Local English-Speaking Guide for the classic visit of Jerash - I assume the driver was supposed to double a guide, however he just dumped us off at each site. We had no guide for any site. He wouldn't have been able to be a guide anyway, considering he did not speak English. On board WI-FI - Who knows if there was Wi-Fi in the van. There was no option to ask the driver about it. This did not matter to us, as we had international data, calls, and texts. Entry/Admission - Jerash Ruins - Not provided, we had to pay out of pocket at the site. Entry/Admission - Ajloun Castle - Not provided, we had to pay out of pocket at the site. Entry/Admission - Pella - Not provided, we had to pay out of pocket at the site. Again, I cannot reiterate this enough. DO NOT BOOK with this tour provider. We spent over $500 for a ride to three sites. After a bit of research, a cab ride would have cost around 60 JOD for this ride we received. This operator scammed, bait-and-switched, and lied to us. I hope at least one traveler reads this and decides against booking with this provider so they can find an alternate tour operator who can provide a modicum of a Jordanian experience.
