Full description
Leave the crowds of Rome behind for a once-in-a-lifetime journey through Italy’s most breathtaking landscapes. This Private Pompeii & Amalfi Coast Day Tour from Rome takes you from the Eternal City to two unforgettable destinations with a private driver and archaeologist Pompeii guide—all arranged just for you.
Step Back in Time in Pompeii
Arriving in Pompeii, you’ll step into a frozen moment in history—a city buried by volcanic ash in 79 AD. Your 2-hour tour includes a private guide who's an expert archaeologist to explore the ancient streets, villas, and bathhouses. As you walk the ancient streets, you'll hear stories of daily life before disaster struck. From perfectly preserved frescoes to haunting plaster casts, this is one of the most immersive archaeological experiences in the world.
Coastal Beauty Like No Other: The Amalfi Coast
Next, your journey takes you along the legendary Amalfi Coast, where cliffs plunge into the glittering Mediterranean. As your private driver navigates the winding roads, you’ll pass sun-drenched villages, cascading lemon groves, and stunning panoramic views—a picture-perfect stretch of coastline that has inspired travelers for centuries.
Discover Charming Positano or Sorrento
You'll have the chance to explore one of the Amalfi Coast’s most stunning towns. From April through October, you'll explore the pastel-colored houses and cliffs of Positano. While tours from November through March, you'll visit Sorrento, considered the gateway to the Amalfi Coast and famous for its sweeping Bay of Naples views, lemon groves, and relaxed coastal vibe. Whether you stroll the charming streets, sip espresso at a seaside café, or browse local shops for handmade goods, this stop will be a true taste of la dolce vita.
Note: Please contact the Walks of Italy Guest Experience team if you wish to spend the afternoon in a different Amalfi Coast town, such as Amalfi or Ravello.
