This private tapas experience brings food, history, and culture together at a relaxed, unhurried pace. Enjoy exclusive time with a knowledgeable local guide while visiting historic taverns and family-run bars that have shaped the city’s dining culture for generations. In between tasting stops, stroll through the heart of Madrid to uncover how royal power, everyday life, and local traditions shaped the capital as we know it today. With all the reservations handled and a guide focused on you, this private tour is ideal for couples, families, or small groups looking for an easygoing and immersive evening spent just like the locals.

The evening begins inside a historic tavern in central Madrid, where the first tapas are paired with vermouth, a favorite local aperitif. Your guide will introduce to the unwritten rules of tapeo, from how dishes are shared to why standing at the bar is part of the experience.

The next stop is a former horse stable turned family-run Asturian restaurant. Here, traditional cider is poured from height in the local style before enjoying regional tapas that highlight northern Spanish flavors.

With appetites building, the tour continues on a guided walk through Madrid’s historic center. Pass the Royal Palace, wander the Habsburg neighborhood, and stroll through the lively Plaza Mayor, a plaza central to Madrid’s political and social history. After your stroll, tapas resume at a beloved bar known for time-honored local favorites, paired with a popular wine cocktail enjoyed on nights out.

The evening ends at a family-run bar open since 1906. You'll try Madrid's classic tapa, gambas al ajillo, at the place that invented it paired with their house wine for a final taste of Madrid tradition.

Unfortunately due to the nature of this tour it is not suitable for guests with mobility impairments or with wheelchairs, or strollers.
This is a walking tour. Guests should be able to walk at a moderate pace without difficulty.
This tour is adaptable for: Vegetarians, Pescatarians, Gluten free (not celiacs), Dairy free, Non-alcoholic options & Pregnant women, however, please note that you may not have a replacement food option at every stop.

Cancellation policy

Free cancellation up to 7 days before the activity starts

Cancellations received greater than 7 days prior to tour commencement are fully refundable. Cancellations received within 7 days of tour commencement are nonrefundable. Amendment requests are subject to availability and price changes. Late arrivals and no shows are nonrefundable. This is applicable to any tour participant that fails to arrive, or arrives after tour departure.
