Itinerary
Pickup from your hotel in either Cairo or Giza by tour guide to start your tour . The Giza pyramid complex, also called the Giza Necropolis, is the site on the Giza Plateau in Greater Cairo, Egypt that includes the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, along with their associated pyramid complexes and the Great Sphinx of Giza. All were built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The site also includes several cemeteries and the remains of a workers' village. The site is at the edges of the Western Desert, approximately 9 km (5 mi) west of the Nile River in the city of Giza, and about 13 km (8 mi) southwest of the city centre of Cairo. The Great Pyramid and the Pyramid of Khafre are the largest pyramids built in ancient Egypt, and they have historically been common as emblems of ancient Egypt in the Western imagination.
Khufu's pyramid complex consists of a valley temple, now buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman; diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been found but the site has not been excavated.[4][5] The valley temple was connected to a causeway which was largely destroyed when the village was constructed.
Menkaure's pyramid complex consists of a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king's pyramid. The valley temple once contained several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added on to the valley temple
Khafre's pyramid complex consists of a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple and the king's pyramid. The valley temple yielded several statues of Khafre. Several were found in a well in the floor of the temple by Mariette in 1860.
The Great Sphinx lies on the east side of the complex. Current consensus among Egyptologists is that the head of the Great Sphinx is that of Khafre. Along with these major monuments are a number of smaller satellite edifices, known as "queens" pyramids, causeways and valley pyramids . Tour Finishes with drop off at Customer Hotel in Cairo or Giza
The Giza Plateau is a limestone plateau in Giza, Egypt, the site of the Fourth Dynasty Giza pyramid complex, which includes the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, the Great Sphinx, several cemeteries, a workers' village and an industrial complex. It forms the northernmost part of the 16,000 ha Pyramid Fields in the Western Desert edge of the Nile Valley that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Memphis and its Necropolis. Traveler reviews
Excellent guide Jasser Suco, highly recommended
Excellent guide Yasser Suco, with a pleasant way to explain and show each place, very good experience, at all times friendly and helpful, highly recommended.
Highly Recommend for Short Trip
Guide was knowledgeable, flexible, and friendly. Very pleasant experience overall. We were able to see all the pyramids, take a camel ride, eat at Khufu’s (pre book that separately), and see the pyramid. All in 4-5 hours. Great half day trip
Lucky dip. You're experience depends on which guide you get(and ask to skip the oil making stop!)
Our driver was great, our guide was either naturally quiet/ shy, didnt give us much information compared to the other tours we did around Luxor. Felt like if we had another guide i would have learnt alot more. We were not explained how long we had at each place or the layout of the day, and also were not given free time to explore on our own like the other tours. None the less we still seen the pyramids, sphinx, and went to some great spots for photos, and had a delicious buffet lunch. After lunch we seen how they made paper out of papyrus which was good, the people were not pushy and we felt if we didnt want to purchase anything we could leave no hassles. This was not the case at the stop after this where they show you about how they make oils and perfumes. They didnt explain or show us anything about how they were done, rather just gave us a sample smell of about 5 of them, told us how to use it and then asked which ones we wanted to buy. I told him 3 times we were not interested in buying and he kept insisting and pushing, to make it easier i just purchased an oil i had no interest in to leave($15usd) when to my surprise they then took us to another section about tea's and herbs! Same deal, no information on how it was made, clearly not interested in showing you anything rather than just making a sale at any means neccessary. Wish we skipped this stop, completely pointless.
Perfect way to see the pyramids
The tour to the pyramids was one of the best tours I’ve been on. An early pickup meant we got to the pyramids just after sunrise. Our tour guide Asma was very friendly and made this tour comfortable and seamless. She was a great photographer as well meaning we have got amazing pictures of the pyramids and the sphinx. The camel ride was all prearranged taking away the hassle of trying to organise ourselves. There was lunch included but as we were both unwell on this trip , we were able to go straight back to the hotel for some rest. This was the perfect way to see and experience one of the wonders of the world. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cairo or Giza.
Pyramids Giza - Peace of mind
We opted for this private tour and I can highly recommend it, our tour guide Ayman was brilliant, kind and friendly and very knowledge and passionate about telling us the stories of the pyramids.. but the most important thing of all is peace of mind.. To get the best of Cario and seeing the pyramids you need a guide, they keep you away from the sellers and hustlers, picking you up from the hotel and dropping you back, they are there with you all the way, getting you through the queues etc.. highly recommended.. we are so glad we did this..
