Itinerary
Meet your own private English-Speaking Driver who doubles up as your guide at your central Amman hotel and board your comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. Then, start out on your full-day trip to Umm Qais, home to the ruins of ancient Rome’s Decapolis cities — a group of 10 situated on the frontiers of the Roman Empire in the Middle East. First, venture northward through Jordan’s green landscapes to the village of Umm Qais, overlooking the ruins of another Roman Decapolis city known as “Gadara”.
Soak up the views from here over the Sea of Galilee and Golan Heights to explore the Greco-Roman ruins, including the amphitheater, crumbled mausoleum, basilica terrace, as well as other theaters and treasures. Start the visit walking the "Docomanos" street that leads to the theater which is different than other roman theaters, since this one is directed west instead of north. Proceed to the basilica church to see its octagonal altar which was a temple. Continue to the main street "Cardomaximo" which means the main street. The direction of this street is from east to west, usually the roman streets are from north to south. Then, visit the town’s museum to admire some of the precious artifacts recovered from the site, including mosaics and marble statues. Admire the breathtaking view of the Sea of Galilee, Tiberias, and the Golan Heights. You day ends with a hotel drop-off.
Upgrade you tour with this easy self-guided hiking trail, with Al Hreith trail you will stops at the beginning of the passageway with a unique view of the fallen oak forest on the one hand and on the cultivated pine forest on the other. During the walk, the visitor can see some annual plants such as hawthorn, sweden, kandul, wild almond, and figs. Then the trail will leads you to the viewpoint, which is 308 degree above sea level, where you take a rest and enjoy watching the Lake of Tiberias, Tur Mountains and Golan heights. The corridor is one of the types of evidence of previous civilizations, which contains water channels used in the Roman era, sections of rocks and caves, some military trenches, and an artillery point used in the sixties of the nineteenth century.
Upgrade you tour with this moderate guided hiking trail, Al-Shreif Mountain trail starts from Umm Qays area towards the village of Al-Mukhaibah al-Tahta. The path begins easily through a semi-level mountain range with simple ramps and slopes, characterized by the presence of many plants, and trees (hawthorn trees, sweden trees, sycamores, Greek turtles), species of animals (Gecko gazelles and rocky mullet). Through the hike, you can take a rest and enjoy some old caves, rock formations and wells. Then the path will take you down to 85 meters above sea level, towards the Muntumra Valley, which is the end of the mountain path with tea break on the firewood.

Traveler reviews
More than just a guide
I was blessed to have Mahmoud take me on this tour and another solo tour the next day to Um El-Jimel. He was not only a wonderful, knowledgeable guide, but he made the tours even more memorable by adding his own places of interest to stop along the way and sharing his personal experiences in Jordan. The sites were amazing, but made special my Mahmoud. I even had a incident where I hurt my knee ( no ones fault ) and after the tour was finished, Mahmoud, at no charge at all, took me to the doctors twice and for X-rays and to the pharmacy to get prescriptions. This was literally hours of help and support that he did out of the kindness of his heart. I would have been in all sorts of trouble if not for his help and support. AMAZING SITES, AMAZING TOURS, PHENOMENAL GUIDE!!! Thank you Mahmoud from the bottom of my heart!!!
