Itinerary
Meet your archeologist guide outside the Colosseum and enjoy a short introduction of the area before entering into the world's most visited attraction. Get ready to travel back in time to the days of the Roman Empire and to be amazed by the history of its most iconic monument.
Once inside, marvel at this mighty wonder of ancient engineering. Learn about the innovative techniques used to build it and discover the political and social reasons that led to its construction. Enjoy a stunning view of the Gladiator's Arena and hear about the bloody games that took place in it. After your official tour ends you can either use your tickets to visit the archeological area of the Roman Forums and Palatine Hill on your own or with a guided tour (choose the option you prefer during your booking).
OPTIONALLY, you can join the guide to head towards the archeological area of the Roman Forums and Palatine Hill in another 1-hour guided tour. Choose this option during your booking. Here, you will immerse yourself in the ruins of ancient temples and will walk the paths of Emperors and Senators. Learn how this beautiful area became the beating heart of Ancient Rome. Hear about the Vestal Virgins and see their gardens and the pagan temple of the Goddess Vesta they served. Learn about the Basilica Julia and the penal system of Ancient Rome and its effects on Christianity. See the temple of Castor and Pollux and the Arch of Titus and learn about the sacking of Jerusalem. Discover the Senate House, where senators met to decide the fate of the Roman Republic and how that climaxed with the murder and cremation of Julius Caesar.
Walk the paths of the Roman Emperors while visiting the hill where the legend of Romulus and Remus places the foundation of the city: the Palatine Hill. Learn how it later became one of the most exclusive areas of Ancient Rome and enjoy breathtaking views over the Colosseum and Roman Forum. From the heights of the Palatine Hill, enjoy a bird's eye view over what is considered to have been the largest structure for public games ever built by mankind, the Circus Maximus.

Traveler reviews
Great private tour!
Manola was so incredibly knowledgeable! We thoroughly enjoyed our time through the colosseum, the palentine, and the Roman forum. She was so patient and engaged with all of our questions and encouraged more of them! She was a joy to be with and made the stories of Rome (especially the gladiators) come to life!
Great experience in crowded area!
Booked this tour for Rome, it ended up just being me and my partner which was great! Rosey was incredibly knowledgeable - we would not have enjoyed our experience if we did not book this. There are a ton of summer crowds, lots to look at- I would have been in a daze and not appreciated the history. It was easy to find the guides. They are all just outside the train station. Make sure to have your passport on you. For this tour- Rosey walked us thru the Colosseum and explained breifly about the Forum and Palatine Hill. The guide leaves you after the Colosseum to explore those on your own, which was nice. Great experience! Worth the extra $$
Great tour
Manola was a great tour guide - it was great to experience the colosseum with just us and a private guide who was very knowledgeable and engaging. Thank you!
Great Tour
We had such a great experience with Bogden. We had 6 adults and 2 children with us and he was humorous and attentive to each of us. So glad we booked a Tour and did not just walk it ourselves. Aside from the great info, the line to get tickets was long and he had them when we arrived.
The best way to experience ancient Rome
Great way to see Ancient Rome with a professional guide. We had headsets even though there were just the 2 of us and guide, but it was incredibly helpful as the coliseum can be very noisy. We were able to experience Ancient Rome in a much more meaningful way on a private tour. Definitely worth the price.
