Admire all the beautiful mountains that surround you! Cham' is a destination popular the world over. In the streets of this high-mountain town you'll hear languages from every corner of the globe. But the people who come to this 'summit meeting' share the same way of thinking, the same love for mountaineering, its legends and its ethics. When you're out shopping in the town centre, wherever you are look up and you'll see 'it' there… 4,810 metres (15,781 ft) of rock, snow, ice and dreams of things to come
Enjoy the ski the line tickets to reach the top with a cable car. Ride up the cable car and discover a spectacular panoramic view of the Chamonix Valley and the French, Swiss and Italian Alps! On a clear day, you may even see Mattherhorn, the famous Swiss peak and icon of Switzerland – it’s even found on packages of delicious Toblerone chocolate. If it’s open, you can try the unique adventure: "Step into the Void" BREATHTAKING! A glass room built around a metal frame. Three glass walls, floor and ceiling panels, allow visitors to control their vertigo and experience 1035 meters of space under their feet!
Board the charming red cog railway up to Montenvers, you’ll enjoy fabulous views of Mer de Glace. This magnificent glacier is 4 miles (7km) long and averages just under a mile wide. Traveler reviews
Once in a lifetime experience
Great guide, great experience, we had fabulous weather. With the drive. Need to plan for 8 plus hours with wait times.
Gorgeous mountain top experience
This was perhaps the best start to finish tour we have ever done. The vehicle was immaculate—complete with a clear roof to make the most of the Mountain views. Our guide was outstanding and so fun! He made sure we knew exactly where to go and even made lunch reservations for us at a fantastic restaurant. We loved every minute of this excursion!
Local tour company used is not reliable or trustworthy
Unable to go on the tour because of all activities being down on Mont Blanc. The night before our tour we were called by the local tour operator and were offered a trip to Glacier 3000 as an alternative. We were to be picked up at 0800 but the driver came at 0830 to inform us that the alternate trip to Glacier 3000 was no longer available because of the weather. The local tour company who operates the tours offered the day trip to Annecy which was a ride to the town and back home with a 1 hour guided tour that is on the Viator site for $96.42/pp. We paid $1181 for the 8 hour tour to the top of Mont Blanc with additional activities (which cost extra). We went to the tour company office and the ladies in the office confirmed that we would be refunded the difference. We were only refunded $498 (they actually emailed me to tell me they accidentally refunded $247 twice by accident). Viator will not refund the difference between the originally booked tour and the alternative tour claiming that we got some special non-advertised tour that was only $198 than our original tour. We were picked up at our hotel, we drove to the tour office, the guide drove us to Annecy and walked around with us for 20 minutes and then we left at 1230. And this was not a guided tour. He basically showed us where to go and where to avoid. The advertisement was for a 1 hour guided tour. This was a glorified Uber ride that they charged $661 for. I checked the Uber price and it was $177. And our guide used curse words the whole time by the way. Definitely Not professional and I'm glad my kids were not in the van with us.
