Traveler reviews
Fantastic guide. A true archaeologist.
Amazing and very well-qualified guide. Learned so much on the tour that I had not learned on previous tour of Pompeii. Could have used more water breaks.
Informational tour with...
Informational tour with Anna Sorrento. She was knowledgeable and friendly. We saw a large percentage of Pompeii in our 3 hour tour.
Excellent tour
The meeting point was easy to find and the group size was okay with the tour path in mind. Our guide was Sergio and despite the blazing heat me and my friends had such a nice time. He was telling a story, rather then reading from a script, made jokes and explained everything in a very easy to follow way, as well as he looked like he was having fun with the facts he was sharing, which make things better. We saw all the notable buildings/sights at a good pace. Only 6 people of our originally group had villa of mistery included in the tour so the last hour felt almost like a mini private tour which gave us a bit of encouragement to ask questions and he was kind enought to answer. By the end we all realized that we had nearly no photos and we all had the same excuse - we were dead focused on what he was discribing and pointing at and we didn't want to miss it so we all kept our phones in our pockets. All in all absolutely worth it.
Great tour despite the heat!
We managed to visit on one of the hottest days of the year, but still had a great tour with Jolanta! In order to see everything (Pompeii is much bigger than I realized), the pace was pretty quick, but she did a great job showing us a huge variety of things. She also gave us some tips for areas to visit after the tour was over and they were great! Definitely glad we had her guidance before continuing at our own pace.
Pompeii
We chose the 3 hour tour with an archeologist. He was one of the many who had excavated the site. His knowledge was amazing. It's a gem of a site to visit but you can't see it all in 3 hours. Not overcrowded even though we went in peak season, August 2026. Probably because it's so big. Don't try and do this on your own, you need a guide. Only downside is unbearable heat this time of year. I would go when it's cooler. Taxi service can be a rip off so agree price before you get in the cab. Public transport is much cheaper but hot and crowded. Trains stop right outside entrance. A must-do but plan carefully.
