Indeed, there is a continuous stream of window displays to admire, full of glittering diamonds, rubies and emeralds. This square is also the home of the Vendôme Column. Forty-four metres high, it was commissioned by Napoleon to commemorate his victory over the Russian Empire at Austerlitz.
