Itinerary
Explore the archaeological site of Paestum, the best-preserved Graeco-Roman city, on a two-hour walking tour with a licensed archaeological guide.
The Temple of Hera II in Paestum (formerly Poseidonia), is earlier and is still often referred to as the 'Temple of Poseidon' or 'Temple of Neptunus' due to a misidentification. This temple is the more northern and recent of the two Hera temples in Paestum.
The Temple of Athena, also known as the Temple of Ceres (c. 500 BC), is a Greek temple located in Paestum, situated near the so-called Basilica, which is considerably larger than it.
Explore the captivating National Archaeological Museum, home to a rich collection of local Greek artworks dating back to the 7th century BC. The unquestionable highlight of the museum in Paestum are the frescoes found in the 'Tomb of the Diver'.

Amazing tour with Maria from Askos
Amazing tour with Maria from Askos. She was so informative and interesting.. loved every minute
An outstanding small tour!
While anyone can wander the grounds of Paestum to see the sights without a knowledgeable guide we would have missed the rich history. Our guide in particular was an archaeologist and outstanding. Most of us will visit Paestum once, why not make it the best experience for your time there?
I wish I could give 10 stars, but the maximum is 5
Beautiful visit and our accompanying archaeologist Mario was extraordinary. For a history and ancient culture enthusiast like me, it was truly a memorable experience filled with pleasure and satisfaction. I recommend it without reservations.
A guided tour that brings Paestum to life
We chose this tour because we wanted the visit to Paestum to be more than just a walk through beautiful ruins. Our trip was born just as a surprise for a very young ancient history lover who had just entered the world of classical Greece. And I can say that the goal has been fully achieved. Paestum is an extraordinary place, of those that strike even in silence. But visiting it with a trained and above all passionate guide really makes all the difference between seeing and understanding. Even with good personal preparation, it would not have been the same experience. Ivan, a young archaeologist and our guide, was really excellent: very knowledgeable, clear, helpful and incredibly engaging. The thing I appreciated most was his ability to adapt language and rhythm to the group, being able to speak to both adults and children without ever trivializing the content. A quality far from obvious. The tour is exactly what it promises: well organized, balanced in timing and perfectly consistent with what was stated at the time of booking. The route leads through the magnificent temples of Hera and Neptune in the southern part of the site, along the central Roman forum, leads to the temple of Athena at the opposite end and ends with a visit to the archaeological museum. Here, too, the guide really made a difference: the museum was not just a final appendix, but an integral part of the story, culminating beautifully with the Tomb of the Diver. A special note also to the site itself: Paestum is beautifully valued and maintained with great care. Cleanliness, usability, conservation and organisation are truly remarkable, and it is great to see such a heritage treated with such respect. Absolutely recommended experience: for us it was not only a beautiful visit, but the best way to turn the interest in ancient history into something alive, concrete and memorable.
Must see Greek temples
Fabulous greek temples to view and explore. Our guide was excellent - very knowledgeable and his English was very good. You get to go into the temples so you are standing on stones that have been there for hundreds of years. An awesome experience.
