Just an amazing day with Maria. She was a true expert and was able to just us a much deeper understanding of the town and the Romans who lived there.

Ostia Antica
Our tour started off difficult, as we found out that we had to find our own way to Ostia from Rome despite having indicated at the time of purchase that we wanted hotel pick-up. We were told if we wanted hotel pickup, it would cost us 130euro in addition to what I already paid for the guided tour. We figured out how to get to Ostia on our own, saving 115euro. When we got to Ostia, we met our guide Stefania. We were the only people being guided through Ostia Antica. Stefania was amazing! Her in depth knowledge of the history and architecture helped us visualize what this place could have looked like. We highly recommend visiting Ostia Antica while you are visiting Rome. Easy to get there: take taxi from your hotel to Porta S. Paolo regional train station. There is a direct train to Ostia Antica that leaves every 10-15 minutes. If you don't want to take a taxi to the station, there are several buses that can take you. In our case, it was three buses, thus it was easier to take a taxi. Round trip train ticket for 2 ppl was 12euro.
