Itinerary

1

Drive to the historic town of Nizwa, Oman’s cultural capital. You visit the beautiful Nizwa Fort with its massive Circular Cannon Tower, making it one of the most impressive forts in Oman and walk through the traditional Nizwa Souq. Then you proceed to Jabrin castle, built in 17th century and one of the finest of its kind. Its magnificent plasterwork, the carved doors and the painted wooden beams of the ceilings makes this castle amazingly different. Thereafter continue to Bahla, one of the oldest small towns of Oman and in the 12th century the capital of the tribe living in the region. The monumental fort is open for public after a long restoration activity. Bahla is also famous for its pottery and you will visit a potter’s workshop

Review of Private Tour to Nizwa Forts

Picked up from my hotel on time @ 8am. Comfortable car. Very friendly and informative local driver/guide. Itinerary was helpfully slightly flexible, so at times we deviated from the main roads, to get a better experience of local village life. Excellent sights and vistas visited. Nice stop at a small local restaurant in Nizwa for lunch and brief coffee stops on outward & return journeys. Back at hotel at approx. 5pm.

Historical Tour in Muscat

It was worth even though it was on 2nd day of Eid. Many shops were closed. Souk at Nizwa was also closed. Lots of restaurants were also closed. The Guide was expert. He showed some more sites near by Nizwa.

Really enjoyed the private tour

Went in mid september 2018 where the tourist season was just starting. It went perfectly from the start of pick up from the hotel to the end being dropped off at the hotel. Went with the wife as part of our honeymoon adventure. Our tour guide was everything we needed in a tour guide, spoke english really well was very informative at all stages including the travel there and back from Muscat which took about 1 and half hour each way. The Nizwa fort was amazing, really well established for tourists and easy to navigate so much so that once we got into the forts the tour guide left us to explore it on our own which was definitely the right thing for a couple. We also visited jabreen fort which was very quiet but was still enjoyable. Although if you didn't go in you wouldn't be missing out on too much. We also went to the souks where he shared the secret of omani halwa! Overall it was a really nice trip out of Muscat and into the old city of Nizwa and surrounding areas. We were very well looked after and I really would recommend this tour especially to those who don't want to be in a big tour group and want a tour based on your wants. Also it helped us to understand the omani culture and tradition more as we were able to ask a lot of questions to our guide with regards to the Omani way of life etc. Really would recommend it and Orient Tours too.

Tour guide was friendly and...

Tour guide was friendly and engaging. He managed the details of the trip well. He was not however very informative about history or culture. Tour would have been better if he had arranged for other persons to join us who could have discussed history and cultural aspects of the sights being seen. At the very least, the guide could have recommended use of audio guidance in the forts.
