Itinerary

1

Start your tour with a pickup from your centrally located Naples hotel or, alternatively, from Naples train station. Then, set off in your comfortable, air-conditioned minivan with your expert guide for your small-group tour of the highlights of this vibrant city — the third largest in Italy. As you travel, hear how Naples is one of Europe’s oldest cities, with roots stretching back to the 4th century BC, and how its historical center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its handsome plazas, palaces and castles. Visit Naples Cathedral (Duomo di San Gennaro) the 13th-century church dedicated to the city’s patron saint Gennaro and see inside its fresco-coated Chapel of the Treasure of San Gennaro. As you admire the mural, hear all about the vials of Gennaro’s blood kept in the chapel, and how they’re brought out three days a year, usually liquefying in what’s seen as a good omen.

Pass by: Peep inside the nearby Basilica Santa Restituta, the original 6th-century church that stood on the cathedral site and then continue by minivan along the city center to the Piazza Municipio to see the Castel Nuovo, known locally as Maschio Angioino. Take photos at the stone battlements and crenellated turrets of this striking medieval castle and hear how, after being constructed by the kings of Anjou in the 1200s, the castle was rebuilt by the Aragonese in the 1600s before becoming home to Naples’ royals in the 18th century.

The person we had giving...

The person we had giving us a tour was not very friendly. She was talking to a local person and playing a dog. We cut our tour short because of the way she treated us.

Visit to the city of Naples

Day of April 25, 2019 spent in the name of the anniversary of liberation in the beautiful city of Campania. City that donated a large contribution of losses of young boys to liberate the city from the invasion of German troops. Beautiful and fantastic day. Naples is and remains one of the enchanting cities of this nation to which a visit is made at least once a year.

Cannot Recommend

I seriously recommend that you avoid this tour and the company which is responsible for running it (Project Napoli Service). They have some serious problems with scheduling and providing tours that conform to the description listed on the Viator website. To expand on my comments. I was picked up as scheduled and conducted to the meeting area close to the Naples Cathedral. After waiting on the bus for twenty-five minutes, the English speaking group (5) were told that our guide had not shown up and we should "go into the cathedral and look around on our own". After just a few minutes inside the cathedral with no help from anyone, we were told to exit the building and then put on a bus with a Spanish speaking guide and an additional group of about 16 people. Our small group had become a larger group and our guide was forced to use both languages for the tour.As a result of the late start we rushed through the city with limited historical commentary (most of the comments were just anecdotes about where to get the best food, housing prices or historical legends with little factual basis. After the stop for the panoramic view of Naples and photographs, we were rushed to the Plebecito Square given about five minutes of commentary concerning some of the buildings and then rushed through the square to a restaurant with a bathroom so the people who were continuing on other tours could use the facilities.Considering the promises in the description of "What You Can Expect" on the Viator website, this tour was nothing but a scam. You could probably get a better picture of Naples using the available "hop on, hop off" bus tours.Don't waste your money.

Guide was very knowledgeable, but the tour did not last 2 hours and I was not dropped back at my hotel. Disappointing, considering the price.

This tour stopped at a number of city sights and our guide provided additional commentary en route to our destinations. We enjoyed our stops, but there was so much more of the city to see. A longer tour could have included more sights.
