Very special experience
We had a wonderful morning with our very experienced tour guide, Maggie. We were picked up at our hotel in a luxurious van at 7am - very important to beat the crowds! On the drive to the wall, Maggie gave is a lot of important history to enrich our experience. It was everything we hoped it would be. A great, memorable last day in Beijing. We highly recommend Maggie and taking the private tour for ultimate flexibility, ease and fun. Worth every penny!
The Great Wall - chairlift/toboggan
The guide picked us up on time and although did not have a lot of English he was able to instruct and show us what we needed to do. He was very helpful in the restaurant and would not let us do anything he insisted on completing the menu and setting the table. The toboggan run does not run in the rain. Chairlift is beautiful although a bit nerve wracking getting on and off. You cannot help the weather but on our visit visibility was very poor due to the misty weather conditions. After the trip our guide drove us back to our hotel. The chairlift secured we reached the wall but once on the wall a lot of uneven surfaces and steps which can be very slippy in wet weather so be careful.

Terrific day! Lucy was our guide and she was fantastic. Communication was superb and the trip was well organised. Lucy was in touch the night before to introduce herself and clarify timing (I chose hotel pickup), etc. Generally, I prefer to travel on my own but I am so so glad that I chose a group for this one. Navigating tickets and logistics and shuttle busses seems like it would be a challenge. The day was quite flexible and Lucy was very clear explaining our options - for example the slide had a 90 min queue so you could go down by chairlift or walk up to the other cable car if you wished. There was loads of time to walk wherever you wanted and the bus was blissfully well air conditioned (also had a fridge and a coffee maker!). Definitely recommend this trip. Bring sunscreen, drink water (she had some on the bus) and if you’re lucky you’ll get Lucy!
