Itinerary
Explore the Amazing Cloud Forests of Costa Rica on this Monteverde Tour. Your tour starts in the morning when you get picked up from your San Jose area hotel and you will then travel towards the Northern Part of the country on a very scenic drive, with great views of beautiful mountain ranges, local towns, farms, and the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. On the way to Monteverde, you will also enjoy multiple stops to see most of Costa Rica. Stop briefly at the largest fruit stand of the country, where you will learn about a huge variety of tropical fruits.
Continue your tour with a stop at Caldera, where you will visit a place where many white-faced capuchin monkeys are normally observed in the wild at a remarkably close range.
Take great photos of amazing landscapes on your way up to the Monteverde Mountains, a couple of stops will be made in look-out points where beautiful views of the Nicoya Gulf and the Monteverde Mountain Range can be seen on clear days.
Once in Monteverde, you will savor a delicious lunch near the town of Santa Elena and then you will proceed to do the amazing hanging bridges tour in the Cloud Forest at Selvatura Park, where you will hike with your guide for about 2-3 hours admiring the beauties of this rare Eco-system and searching for the local wildlife, such as monkeys, emerald toucans, coatimundis, and the rare resplendent quetzal, the most beautiful bird of Costa Rica. This hike is approx. 3 kilometers long (1.9 miles) and it’s done mostly on flat terrain with a few mild climbs. Late in the afternoon, we will take you back to your San Jose hotel or we can take you to your centrally located hotel in Monteverde if you are planning to stay in that area after the tour.

Amazing trip
Our guide was Alex and he was very kind and knowledgeable. Cautious but efficient driver too. The trip was great as we saw the capuchin monkeys in wild, such a peaceful and serene experience! Then went to a local restaurant and our food concern/choice was taken care of, without any problem. Monteverde forest was the highlight of the trip, with amazing guide there too. It was an amazing experience through the forest and hanging bridges.
Alex was awesome ✨
It was a long day. Most of the trip was spent in a car ride. The trip started at 7am, and we were back at the hotel around 8.30PM. It was worth the long car ride. The trail we went to was phenomenal! It was a true rainforest experience. Our tour guide (Alex) took really good care of us. He was very kind and funny. The food was okay, nothing special. The survivor shop we went to after the trip was very expensive. Everything there was the same thing they sell at the airport. The car ride was very rough, so please be prepared lol. The only thing we didn't like was the first stop at the snack shops. It was way too long. It was about 40 minutes. I think that was unnecessary. We only have about 20 minutes to spend time with the monkey. If you are the type of person who loves animals and cares about nature, you will not enjoy Monkey House. Don't forget to bring a rain jacket!
So So
Long Day for seniors pick up @ 5:30 home @ 8PM. Needs to find better stops with better bathrooms. We did have enough bathroom stops. Tour operator choice of restaurant did not provide the food we pre-order. I do not like subitutes as I am a diabetic. Would like to driver to stop occasionally for scenic stops. The tour guide was informative. But group moved along too quickly for seniors.Guide did not find any wild birds or animals. Will go UTube for info before going. Then take an Uber as we are group of three. Should have group rates. After watching UTube will plan my own trip.
Tour to the Cloud Forest with Alex
The trip to the cloud forest in Monteverde was well worth it! Our guide and driver, Alex, did a great job, it felt like a small, personal tour! He made sure everything was going ok, made some stops to break up the long drive, and gave us a lot of interesting information about Costa Rica. Would definitely recommend!
