Enjoy the easy 40-minute drive from Denver for a convenient family float. Your whitewater adventure starts with a meetup at our rafting outpost at 1181 Co Rd 308, Unit B, Dumont, CO. Our team will greet you, check you in, fit you with some gear and ensure that your group is feeling good. We have child-sized gear, so every adventurer in your group is prepared with a well-fitting helmet and Personal Flotation Device.
Once everyone is suited up for some fun, we will shuttle to the put-in!
Once we reach the put-in, your friendly and knowledgeable guide will walk you through the ins and outs of rafting. You will learn simple commands, the correct way to paddle, and the best safety practices in the raft. This is a great way for your family to learn how to work together as a team and follow simple (yet fun) instructions!
This stretch of the river is the perfect mix of calm water for wildlife-searching and enjoying views and splashy water to cool you off and keep your energy high. The fun starts off the bat with Initiation Falls, perfectly named at the beginning of the trip. All of the rapids you bounce through will be class II-III, which are considered fun and exciting without being overwhelming for children. During calmer sections, you can take in the details of the mining valley, learn about the area from your guide, and try to find some fun wildlife – if you’re lucky, you may get to see beautiful animals like beavers, bighorn sheep or moose.
Along the trip, your raft will be captured by our talented photographer for some dramatic photos of navigating the rapids. These photos will be available for purchase at the end of your trip so you can keep your Middle Clear Creek memories forever.
For this stretch, the ability to swim is recommended but not required.
Typically 6 guests and a guide, sometimes we can fit 7 if the group is smaller.
Anything that will stay of your feet if you swim, water shoes, sandals with backstraps or tennis shoes.
Transportation to and from the river, helmet, PFD/life jacket, wetsuit, and splash jacket.
We recommend using a wetsuit for May and June departures, while for July and August departures, they are typically not needed. Be sure to check out our packing list!
